*2026* is upon us, ready or not!

I find myself saying, “Last year went by SO fast!” year after year. Can anyone relate? Time just flies- having fun or otherwise.

As I contemplated what 2026 holds for me and my family today, I felt excitement, hope, and yet, a little anxiety. Those feelings of, “That would be too good to be true,” “What if I fail/it doesn’t work?” and “Can I really achieve it?” are loud feelings.

Then, I prayed for peace. I took a few deep breaths and calmed my spirit by reflecting on that which I know is true, that God has a plan for me and my life. I asked myself, “What am I going to do to meet goals, to make the best choices and decisions, and to stay the course?” I felt a sense to not stress over things I can’t control and to seriously consider how I respond or react to situations that are stressful or uncomfortable. I also felt the quiet urging to be less… less verbal, less opinionated, less concerned with that which does not pertain to me personally. That’s where I found my personal goals for 2026, in the quiet discernment of prayer.

Sometimes we set goals that are too high, too grandiose, too unachievable and then we quit, we give up.

I ask you to take a few minutes to envision what peace would feel like to you. How would you feel if you were less stressed, healthier, in less pain, more in tune with your body? What would it take for you to feel proud of yourself? Walking a 5k? Losing 25 lbs? Moving for FIVE minutes daily? Eliminating fast food? You don’t have to shout your NY’s resolutions from the rooftop, but write them down for yourself to be accountable. Check in on those goals every week and see how you’re doing.

I recently hosted a Women’s Health day at my friend’s home and really enjoyed hearing that a few of the ladies had been researching health and wellness, seeking organic nourishment, vetting personal care products and all were wanting to improve their overall health.

There is a movement in the USA right now to go against the grain of “big pharma” and to use discernment and wisdom to best take care of oneself and our families. I applaud those who seek root causes to their diagnoses- especially Type II Diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, and even Cancer. It can be challenging to make critical adjustments to the way we eat, move and medicate, but what a difference to feel healthy, whole and confident in how we take care of ourselves.

We’ve been given one life, one story, one body. Let’s make the most of the days we have on this planet and take a minute RIGHT NOW to commit to taking care of ourselves and those we love using the information we have at our fingertips.

I’ve been out of pocket as I traveled to Europe for a few weeks and I’d like to share my vacation food mindset. I confess to indulging at times with wine, bread and risotto- everything in moderation!

I kept a protein-forward focus, added vegetables as often as I could, and tried to balance my bread/carbs with the idea that if I had already had some that day, I skipped it at other meals. I sought soups frequently for adding veggies/fiber and to increase satiety. I also took my daily supplements and drank lots and lots of water.

I focused on lunch being the biggest meal as often as possible, tried to have only one “big” meal a day and purchased eggs, charcuterie, nuts and dark chocolate to have on hand at all times to avoid pastries and sweets. We had a kitchen at most of our stops and found it easy to shop at Aldi or markets

We moved Air BnBs every day or every other day so it was important to have a small, cooler with an ice pack, with high protein and whole food ingredients on hand.

We walked thousands of steps, pushed ourselves to traverse endless staircases and hills and I really tried to keep my blood glucose in the healthy range using a continuous glucose monitor that I’ve worn for a couple of years.

Your health and well-being effect your energy and emotions. Small efforts can have big impact

I speak from experience. When I was carrying 55 more pounds, I felt fatigued, had joint pain, and low energy. My diabetes & BP were out of control, I was unhappy with my appearance and would often be the heaviest woman in the room, which made me feel shame. I still have 20 pounds to lose but I am no longer on any medications for diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol. I have amazing energy, my moods are stable, I like my appearance, and I feel JOY!!

I’ll walk alongside you if you want to join me. 🏃🏽‍♀️😊
