It is Child Passenger Safety Week. We understand that for many families with autistic children, car rides can present unique challenges. From sensory sensitivities to elopement risks, ensuring both safety and comfort is essential.

Autistic children may be more prone to unbuckling themselves or attempting to leave their car seats, which poses serious safety concerns. At the same time, the textures, straps, and confined space can cause sensory discomfort.

Here are a few supportive tools and tips that can help:

🔐 Elopement Prevention Tips:

Use anti-escape chest clips (like Buckle Boss or EZ-ON Vest)

Try special harnesses for kids who can’t tolerate traditional seats

Position seats safely away from door controls if possible

Tuesday was truly an uplifting small group experience. Royse City Fire Department came out and let the kids explore the truck, sparking their imagination. They all received stickers and a hat, beaming with joy. The delight on their faces was absolutely inspiring.
