🚔 Winter Road Conditions Advisory ❄️

Due to extremely high demand across the Northeast, there is currently a regional salt shortage impacting many communities. Our City of Rutland, Department of Public Works has notified us that their primary salt suppliers are currently out of product, and additional vendors are facing the same issue.

To date this winter, road crews have salted 17 times and plowed 7 times, with more winter weather expected. Because the remaining salt supply is limited and resupply timelines are unknown, DPW will be adjusting winter road treatment operations.

➡️ All roads will continue to be plowed
➡️ Main roads will continue to be salted
➡️ Side roads and neighborhood streets will receive a sand/salt mixture for traction and may remain snow covered

The Rutland City Police Department and DPW asks all motorists to use extra caution when traveling, especially on side streets. Please slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and be prepared for changing road conditions during cold weather and snowfall.

Our officers will continue to monitor roadway conditions and respond as needed. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as communities across the Northeast work through this shortage.

Please drive safely and adjust your travel plans accordingly.
