I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of working with some very strong, competent mothers lately.

I’ve noticed that they have a difficult time resting instead of ‘doing’

But rest is SO IMPORTANT during the postpartum period!!

And rest doesn’t necessarily mean sleep. It can look like

~ Sitting on the couch with a sleeping baby
~ Listening to a podcast while feeding
~ Soaking in a warm bath
~ Reading a good book

Even if you feel good and lose the baby weight, your body is working hard to get back to its pre-pregnancy state on a physical, hormonal and emotional level.

Be patient with yourself.

Resting now will allow you to fully regain your vitality and will impact your overall health in the future.

Allow yourself to rest!

No matter how you became a mother...

You have given of yourself in ways you could never have imagined

Your capacity for love has grown beyond what you thought was possible

You deserve all the love today (and every day)!

You ARE precious 🩷

Happy Mothers Day!!

❤️

No matter how you prepare for your birth and postpartum, there are always surprises.

* Overwhelm
* Maybe even feelings of sadness
* Fear of not knowing how to care for baby
* So many decisions and questions!
* Issues with feeding
* Illness (especially in winter months)
* Physical healing from birth

It’s scary bringing baby home!

It’s okay to ask for help too.

It doesn’t mean you weren’t well prepared or ready for this moment.

It doesn’t mean you don’t know what you’re doing.

It’s getting the support you need to move forward confidently and make informed choices.

It’s reducing your anxiety so your baby is less anxious too.

It’s helping you get rest so you can heal.

It’s doing what’s best for you and your baby.

A great way to maintain health and wellness during pregnancy (and beyond)!

Diet is important, but lowering cortisol levels is just as vital for you and your baby's health.

Stress hormones can have long-term effects on you and your baby.

Meditation doesn't have to be a certain length of time or done in any specific way.

Just find a time and place where you can be quiet. Even for 5 minutes.

You'll notice a difference. I promise!

Sometimes it’s just a good idea to hit the pause button. And so I did!

I’ve been gone for a while.

2025 has had a rocky start for me. It felt like I was in an avalanche.

~ I had covid over the holidays
~ I lost two people I was close with
~ Issues with my home water system
~ Stressful situations within our family
~ ‘Other’ things that felt consuming

I needed to attend to myself so I could be completely present for my clients, my friends, and my family.

Now I’m back. I’ve caught my breath and found solid footing.

While reflecting on the past month, I recognize that what I’ve been ‘going through’ is similar to what new parents experience.

It’s a seismic shift in life that feels outside of your control.

You need to come up for air, but there’s no time to pause.

It’s new territory that is a bit scary and rocks your foundation.

Life has changed.

In short, it’s overwhelming!!

And for my clients, that’s where the magic of having a postpartum doula makes such a huge difference.

It’s taking a moment and taking care of yourself.

We can help you find your “pause” so you can breathe, recharge, regroup and gain perspective.

We can help you get sleep or a shower to help you feel rejuvenated.

We can listen to what is concerning you so you can talk it through.

We can help with the laundry or dishes that are piling up, so your environment is calm and clean.

We can hold the baby for you to give your weary arms a break.

In short, we can help you get rest.

Sometimes you just have to pause and take care of yourself.

And I’m here for it.

The focus during pregnancy and birth is often on the baby. But the mother who carries, nurtures and whose body grows that little human needs to be acknowledged!

Women are powerful forces when supported and given the information they need!

And there is nothing more powerful - or beautiful - than a woman in labor who is confident in herself and her body to give birth.

Welcome!!

As many of you know, I have had a passion for supporting women in childbirth for many years.

I was a private childbirth educator for 14 years, a doula (both birth and postpartum), and have even taught prenatal yoga classes. And, of course, I had three - very different - birth experiences.

After spending several years learning about yoga (which included getting certified to teach as well as earning my credential as an IAYT Yoga Therapist) and getting certified as a Health Coach, I have made the decision to get back to my roots and passions and go back into the field of childbirth.

My offering will be a combination of all the ‘tools’ I have collected from the childbirth work, yoga knowledge, and coaching education.

What will this look like?

* Emotional and logistical support throughout pregnancy

* Childbirth Preparation - physical, mental, and emotional (this will include discussions around dietary choices, movement, and mindset)

* Assistance with Birth Planning

* Basic baby care information

* Provide information, support and resources for feeding - breast or bottle

* Support throughout the 4th trimester (3 months postpartum)

All of this will, of course, be tailored to the needs of the individual(s), as every pregnancy is unique.

If you know of anyone who would benefit from this kind of support, please have them contact me at WendyMcLoonLLC@gmail.com.
