Walk the walk - it makes everything in life better.

Need more sleep? Walk.

In pain, go for a walk.

Better circulation, walk.

Better foot health, walk.

Better brain function, walk.

Better stress control, walk.

8-10k per day, breathe through your nose. Do it on calls, getting groceries, break at work. Walking after a meal can also positively impact your glucose. https://paragraphai.com/

There are three epidemics of hormonal problems in America today,
too much insulin, too much cortisol, and not enough thyroid hormone. These are all interconnected and affect every other major category of hormones, including our s*x hormones.
Fix Your Broken Brain By Balancing Your Hormones

INSULIN

• Sugar promotes high levels of insulin, and when we eat too much
sugar, too much insulin is produced to keep blood sugar balanced,
which leads to insulin resistance
• Consequences of insulin resistance include depression, dementia,
weight gain, heart disease, and cancer
• Reversing insulin resistance can be as easy as adding exercise,
relaxation, and supplements to your daily routine
Dementia is sometimes
referred to as "Type 3
Diabetes" because of the
impact sugar has on
the brain.

THYROID

• Thyroid hormones are sensitive to multiple influences and problems
with your thyroid are indicative of issues in our diet, lifestyle, and
environment
• Exposure to environmental toxins such as pollution, petrochemicals
(PCBs), industrial waste, and heavy metals have increased and so have
thyroid problems
• Most common symptoms of low thyroid function often go unnoticed,
and can include the following:
• Feeling tired, fatigue, sluggishness, trouble getting up in the
morning, depression, memory loss, insomnia, dry skin and dry hair,
constipation, fluid retention, menstrual problems, PMS, hair loss,
cracked or chipping finger nails, low s*x drive, weight gain, muscle
aches, cramps
• Food allergies are often causes of low thyroid function, and are most
likely related to gluten consumption
• Selenium, zinc, fish oil, iodine, and tyrosine are all vital for thyroid
function, and many people are deficient in most, if not all, of these
essential vitamins and minerals
S*X HORMONES

• S*x hormones act on the brain directly to affect mood and cognition
• As men and women age, estrogen increases and progesterone
decreases in both s*xes, leading to low energy, depression, and low
s*x-drive

Estrogen

• Promotes the production of neurotransmitters, especially serotonin,
the “feel-good” hormone
• Estrogen in the brain is thought to be neuroprotective, potentially
reducing the risk for dementia
• Alcohol damages the liver, and inhibits getting rid of excess
estrogen, which can influence hormone imbalance
• Excess estrogen in the body can cause breast, uterine, and
cervical cancer

Progesterone

• Levels of this hormone drop in PMS and in perimenopause,
leading to increased anxiety and insomnia
• Can reduce anxiety and stress through its actions on GABA
receptors in the brain

Testosterone

• Improves mood, memory, motivation, and overall cognition
• Levels of this hormone drop significantly in both women and
men as they age, and has enormous impact on quality of life
• The drop in levels of this hormone is caused mostly by
weight gain, belly fat, lack of exercise, stress, and high-sugar
diets
• Low testosterone in men linked to insulin resistance
• Raising testosterone levels in men can be done through cutting
out sugar and refined flours from the diet, eating whole foods,
and exercising (strength building)
• Saturated fat and cholesterol can help raise testosterone
levels because testosterone is made from cholesterol
• Especially in older men, testosterone can be raised through
topical bioidentical testosterone

This week we will be focusing on brain health.

This subject has intimately impacted our lives and we want to share how we are trying to avoid brain health issues like dementia and Alzheimers. Dementia is a silent destroyer that takes away our family members. Science used to say there was not a lot that we could do about it. In reality, there is a mountain of things that we can do, you just need to start now. Work with your doctor and be your own health advocate.

What can you do about it?

Here are 5 steps to help you have a healthier brain and body.

1. Reduce the amount of sugar that you consume.
• Average American consumes 152
pounds of sugar a year, which is
roughly 22 teaspoons every day
• Average American consumes 146
pounds of flour a year
• Nearly 1 in 4 teenagers are diabetic
or pre-diabetic

2. Eat more real unprocessed foods.
• Whole, organic, local, unprocessed
• Colorful fruits and vegetables are
high in antioxidants and brain-boosting chemicals such as
phytochemicals or phytonutrients
• Blueberries, dark leafy greens
(kale and Swiss chard),
spinach, watercress, arugula
• Whole plant foods that are high
in fiber
• Small amounts of beans
• Non-gluten whole grains
• Nuts
• Seeds

3. Stop eating the bad fats that studies are showing to be extremely harmful to the brain and cardiovascular system.
• Saturated fats
• Highly-processed vegetable oils

4. Our bodies and most importantly brains thrive on healthy natural fats.
• Your brain is made up of 60% DHA
(omega-3)
• Wild fatty fish
• Avocados
• Nuts and seeds
• Quality saturated fat such as
coconut oil or MCT oil
• Olive oil

5. High-quality protein supports our brain and body health.
• Need 30 grams of protein per meal
to build muscle, which helps slow
aging
• Omega-3 eggs
• Nuts and seeds
• Grass-fed meat
• Wild fatty fish

6. Use supplements to help support your brain and body.
• High-quality multivitamin
• Magnesium
• Vitamin D3 (fat-soluble vitamin and
antioxidant)
• Omega-3 fats in the form of fish oil
• Probiotics
• Vitamin B (folate, B6, B12)

Brain Health Statistics
• Psychiatric disorders affect 26% of the U.S. adult population, which is
about 70 million people
• Over 20% of children have some sort of psychiatric disorder
• Over 40 million Americans have anxiety
• Over 20 million Americans have depression
• 1 in 10 Americans takes an antidepressant
• The use of antidepressants has tripled in the last few decades
• Alzheimer’s disease is going to affect 30% of the total population,
and potentially 50% of those over 85 years old will have this disease
by 2050
• Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) is given as a label to 9% of children
between the ages of 8 and 15
• Autism has increased from 3 in 10,000 to 1 in 166 (1 in 155 in boys);
this is an 11-fold increase
