- Nature Is Medicine Too

A study, conducted at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine titled “The role of exposure to nature in perceived stress by veterinary students”, showed that vet students who spent time in nature reported lower stress levels.

Take a walk. Sit by water. Feel the sun. It’s not a luxury, it’s a strategy. Try it this week and tell us how you feel in the comments, we’d love to hear from you!

Research shows that Black male children are disproportionately diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). Although exact percentages are not consistently reported, studies estimate that Black children account for 50–70% of ODD diagnoses, highlighting a substantial health disparity (Clifton & Clifton, 2022).

Clinical Psychology students at Alliant International University are hosting a virtual community focus group to learn more from Black adults who were diagnosed with ODD as children and those with Black family members who have been diagnosed with ODD. Their main goal is to document the lived experiences of those impacted by the health disparity of children diagnosed with ODD.

"The Overdiagnosis of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) in Black Children and Adolescents"

The event welcomes anyone over age 18 in the following categories:
An individual who identifies as Black and was diagnosed with ODD as a child;
Educators (of any race) who have worked with a Black student diagnosed with ODD;
Clinicians (of any race) who have worked with a Black individual diagnosed with ODD;
Family members (of any race) related to a Black child diagnosed with ODD
