A little Midwife Almanac for you...
The Day After the Full Buck Moon
99% Illumination | Moon in Capricorn

The moon is still full in the sky this morning — low, slow, and unwavering.
She hasn’t left yet.
She lingers.

That’s how healing works too.
Not in a flash. Not in one ritual.
But in the long return.

Today is for noticing what’s still tender.
Noticing what’s growing back like the buck's antlers — soft, velvet-covered, maybe even sore. The part of you that kept going when you thought you were done...

Maybe it’s the fact that you’re still showing up for your kids when your own cup is bone-dry. Maybe it’s that you made breakfast while grieving. Maybe it’s that you found a moment to breathe — even if the floor is still covered in yesterday. (mine is!)

Maybe you found a way to stock the fridge with groceries after attending 4 births in a 10 day birth storm.

The Buck Moon reminds us:
You don’t need to be shiny to be growing.

You don’t need to be perfect to be powerful.

Just be here.
I'm here.
You're here.
Still here.
Let that be enough today.

The Mothers Almanac: 🌘 In true waning moon scattered Midwife fashion, I gave yesterday’s lunar reading a little more glow than it had left. lol😊

Truth is she’s nearly gone now — quiet, dark, and ready to begin again.

Which completely explains the long-overdue mother finally in early labor this morning in our practice. Come out little baby, we are all so ready for you!

Ah how this work humbles me daily. The moon teaches, and the mothers remind: instinct always knows.

The Moon is a whisper today.
🌘 Waning and just three days from a new moon - The Buck Moon - she calls us inward — not to do more, but to make space.

Right now doesn't demand perfection. (Thankfully!) She creates sacred order from what’s already here.

She helps us prepare the ground, just in time for the New Moon’s first seeds.

We’re 25 days from Lughnasadh, the First Harvest — still a time of ripening, gathering, and giving thanks. And right now, that harvest begins in our homes, hearts, and rhythms.

This is the week to compost what’s stale. Make space for fresh.

This is the day to sweep the corners. Make space for life.

This is the moment to return to your center. Make space for you.

Give yourself the grace you give others. Take up space.

Let Monday be soft and structured — a whispered welcome to the next season of becoming.

Trying something new...

I’m starting a rhythm I’ve been dreaming of for a while now, a combination of so many books I cherish and natures own messages. I am starting...little love notes called The Mother’s Almanac.

They’re rooted in the lunar cycle, the Wheel of the Year, and the slow, sacred work of mothering — the kind that happens in kitchens and hearts and quiet moments after bedtime.

I really don’t know if I’ll post one every day. Or even every week.

But I’m showing up tonight. And maybe that’s enough.

🌙 The Mother’s Almanac🌙
July 6th

The week begins not with a bang, but with a breath.

Tonight, under a waxing gibbous moon, glowing at 85%... we step into the week of tending. Not rushing. Not perfecting. Thankful for just slowly turning the soil, gently checking on what’s already been planted.

The Buck Moon is coming — full on July 9–10. You'd think babies come on the full moon, and they do, but they prefer the darker moons. Full moon illuminate and you may already feel its pull, brightening your inner sky, stirring your intuition, calling you to check in.

And just ahead, the first harvest awaits: Lughnasadh arrives August 1.
Twenty-six days from now, we cross another threshold — celebrating effort, ripening, and the quiet gold of summer’s work.

So tonight my friends, I bring a message from the overdue babies in Midwifery land...
We invite you to slow down with us.
Savor this moment in and of itself. Light a candle. Put something warm in your belly.

Tend just one corner of your world.
It’s enough. For tonight, it's enough.

What’s asking to be tended right now in your world?

And just like that, the ripening of summer rolled us into July 1st and brought forth this little miss! We were so excite...

And just like that, the ripening of summer rolled us into July 1st and brought forth this little miss! We were so excited to see such a full family: love, congratulations, and helping hands - toddler wrangling, dog sitting, cleaning, folding, sorting, and all while carrying so much love and happiness. A not so often seen glimpse of a beautifully aligned family village. Not once did they ask to hold, to see, to break the sacredness of holding space in half of a home - and in return mama bear called them all in to witness the siblings first meet and greet (it went well-only kisses so far 😆) and baby's first physical 🥰 sweet sweet magic. 🩷👏👏

A well earned gift for a strong mama - the hands of her beloved cradling the newest member of their family, the fruit of her labors, a son.

Welcome Samson, you are already a blessing of peacefulness - of complete unbotheredness really - and it was exactly what this family needed!
