It hurts my heart to say that this Thursday, May 9th, I will be teaching my very last class at Yoga Shala. Grace was 7 when she started teaching here with me and will be here on Thursday, just like old times aka B.V.B. (before volleyball).

We will be combining the healing modalities of breath work and restorative postures while bathing in the sweet sound of alchemy crystal bowls, Tibetan bowls and shamanic drumming.

Previous yoga experience is not required. Space is limited.

Today is World Water Day. It is observed every year on March 22nd around the world to highlight the importance of freshwater and to spread awareness about it. Approximately 2.2 billion people live without access to safe water around the world and countless animals and wildlife are affected.

Almost all of the freshwater in the world is groundwater. Groundwater is invisible, but its impact is visible everywhere. It may be out of sight, but it must not be out of mind.

We must work together to sustainably manage this precious resource.

Ways you can help:
-Clean up your local water source by picking up trash around and in your rivers, lakes and oceans.
- Stop spraying dangerous chemicals and pesticides in your yard.
-Reduce your water footprint. There are many ways, big and small. Research them.
-Organize an event to raise awareness

We are all precious Waterkeepers of our own bodies and our Earth. May we all be a part of the solution in caring for ourselves and this beautiful Mother of ours.

Happy Autumn Equinox! It’s when the sun pauses over the equator bringing equal amounts of light and darkness. It is a time for renewal and recalibration, a time when day and night, inward and outward, masculine and feminine are all in perfect balance.
It marks a shift between the extroverted spring/summer, which is all about play, pleasure, and connection, and the introverted fall/winter, which is a time for rest, intimate connection, solitude, and reflection.
May we remember that we are nature and that everything in nature is always in perfect balance. πŸ’™πŸ§ΏπŸ’¦

Last week I had the pleasure of meeting with Accenture employees in their lovely Ice Blocks office.

I led them through some Breathwork, some shamanic drumming, a mindful eating meditation followed by a mindful eating experience where we used tomatoes from my garden and blueberries. They had no idea what they were in for and they were very receptive and appreciative.

In today’s fast-paced world we often rush through our meals without giving much thought to what we are putting in our bodies. What if we approached eating as a spiritual practice?

Mindful eating is being fully present and aware during meals - paying attention to the smells, tastes, textures and colors of our food as well as our own bodily sensations and emotions. It also involves slowing down and savoring each bite.

Benefits are increased gratitude, improved digestion, heightened awareness and treating your temple with the reverence it deserves. By approaching meals with awareness and gratitude we can cultivate a deeper connection to ourselves, each other, our food and the planet and world around us. πŸŒŽπŸ’™πŸ’š

Let’s stop normalizing things like constipation, chronic GI discomfort, bloating, problems sleeping, chronic diarrhea, fatigue, headaches, sluggishness, heartburn, acid reflux, depression, painful gas, frequent illness or infection.

The bad news: none of these things are normal. They are all indications of poor gut health.

The good news: your body is communicating with you and it is designed for health and is always working to realign and balance.
