As a certified doula and midwife assistant, I often center my ideas in biotech around the birthing world. For my Biotech Industry course the final project is to investigate and conduct a deep dive study into any biotech company. I found a company called Biomilq - an early-stage startup that unlocks human potential with breakthrough mammary biotechnology. Milk can be produced from a mothers mammary cell outside of her body, with many of the same nutrients.

I learned about BIOMILQ's IP Position, Methods of Funding/Sustainability, and who there Competitors are.

I was happy to learn about a biotech competitor, TurtleTree, that opened a facility in my hometown, within the last year! TurtleTree uses modern cell-based technology to create sustainable food products that are ideally better for the planet, better for the animals, and better for you!

Today marks me halfway through finals week! After this week, I will have completed my first trimester of grad school!

MSBT here I come!

This week I have a 20 page paper due about in my Biotech Industry course. I have to describe the company’s intellectual property position, funding methods, marketing strategy, and technologies used!

The women-led biotech company I chose to write about is called Biomilq🔬🍼As a Doula, I am fascinated about biotechnology and the birthing world! BioMilq is a company that creates milk outside of the body from cells off of a mothers memory gland! Neat huh?! 😲

Thank you to Sojourner Truth African Heritage Museum & Sister Shonna McDaniels at for inviting to iHeart Biotech to present & speak to the community ab ‘Black American Scientists that I Should Know’!

Drailyn, who is eight years old absolutely loved the presentation. She told us that I (Keyah) was her favorite and insisted on giving me a dollar 😭

I reminded her that science is cool and to not listen to other people when they say that it’s not.

The other picture is 9 year old Amir the protector. He was shocked when he heard the beats from Mr. Ricky‘s heart pumping 😲😁

I love working at with this year‘s Seniors and Juniors!

Today, UCAN students took the KUDER Navigator Career Assessment Test (in-depth personality quiz to show where the students best aptitude is in regards to various Career Industries).

While taking this test and discovering a little bit more about themselves, they were able to hear a wonderful presentation about science from a relatable perspective, and about Black American scientist from iHeart Biotech!

This week we are halfway through term one of the first semester. My goal is to earn a 4.0, I’m not too far behind but not too far behind is not good enough. I’m loving what I’m learning right now ab Cell Biology and Critical Thinking. I just gotta put more energy into my biology class 💯

In March I’ll begin term 2 where my cohort & I will be learning ab Biomedical Data Science & Statistics 🧪📈 as well have as an Introduction to the Biotechnology Industry 🙇🏾‍♀️👩🏾‍🔬👩🏾‍💻

This week is Midterms Week & we are all in the books.📚 Although our program is online, many of us keep in touch daily via group me and push one another to keep pushing!

With our MSBT program being the #1 Biotechnology program in the country, I’m so excited to experience this year long journey with these wonderful & smart people!

iHeart Biotech LLC, Sacramento’s newest small business, is hosting our first community event iHeart Biotech Celebrates Dr. George Washington Carver celebration on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 virtually in Sacramento, CA!

We will serve approximately 25 students ages 10-15 from the community that lives in the Greater Sacramento area. Our mission for that day is to engage children to take up interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). As a Graduate Student attending Morehouse School of Medicine and Tuskegee University Alumna, I will be teaching about the great contributions from Dr. George Washington Carver, which also is the first weekend of Black History Month.
