With the heat approaching, please find the following Cooling Center/RT information:
Cooling Center Information
In partnership with First Step Communities, the Department of Homeless Services and Housing announced that the North A Shelter—located at 1400 North A Street—will serve as a heat respite center from Friday, August 8, through Sunday, August 10, operating daily from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The center will offer essential services to guests, including:
· Snacks and a warm dinner
· Restrooms and phone/device charging
· Light case management support
Accommodation for pets (one per person or two per couple), with crates, leashes, and pet food provided
Guests must be 18 years or older, and space is limited, so anyone interested is encouraged to call 2-1-1 to check availability before heading to the site
We also encourage the public to check the 211 website which will have information on cooling and warming centers that are currently open.
Ride SACRT Free to Cooling Centers
SacRT has partnered with the City of Sacramento and Sacramento County to provide free rides on fixed-route bus and light rail to and from cooling centers located throughout Sacramento County.
Free Rides Valid: 1:00pm Friday, August 8th, 2025, through 8:00pm on Sunday, August 10th, 2025
