As the world gets louder lately, I've been finding pause and deeper meaning by extracting purpose from everyday surroundings.

On a walk this AM in downtown Auburn, I read a poem on a mural I've passed a gazillion times but never stopped to truly soak in. The poem was titled "Disguise" by Poet Lisa Dominguez Abraham, nestled by Frank Ordaz’s "Stella" mural in the Auburn Central Square Art Park.

As I walked by and read, the line that latched onto me most was:

"Believe it or not, despite each news flash after flash, your charred lungs and torn heart still haven't sealed out song. Snap -AWAKE - smile back."

Perhaps, even in times like these something inside us still holds on. Clinging to hope, beauty, life....

Something is begging to awaken in us all, to do more, to flip the script, to protect, to speak louder, to heal.

Remember...... the world hasn’t and can't take that from you. So snap awake and smile back.✨
