Hard to admit and I’m sorry for being so judgy when I was in my 20s. So sorry.
I didn’t understand why older women’s bodies changed, why weight showed up around the midsection, or why it seemed so hard for them to “get it back.” I thought it was about discipline or effort. Ugh!!!!
Now I know better.😕😫 The joke is on me.
👉Hormones shift. Estrogen and progesterone decline. Cortisol rises. Insulin resistance can creep in. Stress, sleep, life, and caregiving all pile on. Bodies respond to all of it, especially in midlife.
If you’re a hormonal woman over 50 navigating midlife and feeling frustrated with body changes, please know this. It’s normal… 💥not fun, but normal. And now we have so many ways to help get through the process.
🌺💕🌺We need more compassion for ourselves and for each other. Less judgment. More understanding. And better conversations about what women’s bodies actually go through.
