Hard to admit and I’m sorry for being so judgy when I was in my 20s. So sorry.

I didn’t understand why older women’s bodies changed, why weight showed up around the midsection, or why it seemed so hard for them to “get it back.” I thought it was about discipline or effort. Ugh!!!!

Now I know better.😕😫 The joke is on me.

👉Hormones shift. Estrogen and progesterone decline. Cortisol rises. Insulin resistance can creep in. Stress, sleep, life, and caregiving all pile on. Bodies respond to all of it, especially in midlife.

If you’re a hormonal woman over 50 navigating midlife and feeling frustrated with body changes, please know this. It’s normal… 💥not fun, but normal. And now we have so many ways to help get through the process.

🌺💕🌺We need more compassion for ourselves and for each other. Less judgment. More understanding. And better conversations about what women’s bodies actually go through.

If this resonates, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to figure it out by yourself.❤️❤️❤️

Recently, I was missing my younger body 😕

Hormonal women over 50 navigating midlife often miss their younger bodies. 🥲 My clients talk about it all the time and I have felt it too.

When I look back at old pictures, I feel the same. Through all the things I’ve learned to take care of my body, I am learning to appreciate what I have today and build a strong body for the rest of my life.

But I get it…things feel different now.

But here’s the truth we don’t talk about enough. There is so much we can do in this season to feel strong, 💪confident, and at home in our bodies again.💕💕

👉Midlife doesn’t have to be about looking back and wishing things were different.

This can be the time where you build strength, peace, and appreciation for the body you’re in right now. I know it’s challenging, but it’s not too late.

💥💥💥Because chances are, ten years from now, you’ll look back at this body and wish you had appreciated her more.💯💯

Let’s stop waiting to love ourselves later. ❤️Let’s do it now.

Eating less is backfiring in midlife.
💥💥💥
If you’re a hormonal woman over 50 navigating midlife, this is an important shift to understand.⭐️⭐️⭐️

Skipping meals, cutting carbs, or trying to eat as little as possible can feel like the “right” move, but in midlife it often does the opposite.

trust me. I did it. I tried it and I was addicted to dieting over and over again and it only ruined my metabolism and I never lost weight. Good hormone balance and dieting just don’t go together.

👉👉Hormones are changing, cortisol is easier to spike, and blood sugar doesn’t rebound the way it used to. When your body senses stress or lack of fuel, it looks for the fastest source of energy, and that usually means sugar.

🍪🍫🍦This is why cravings can feel louder, more urgent, and harder to ignore than they ever were before. It’s not a lack of discipline. It’s a nervous system and hormonal system trying to protect you.

I felt this too. I would die it, and it would backfire, and my sugar cravings would be so much higher. I would sabotage everything I did. Have you done that?

For hormonal women over 50 navigating midlife, the goal isn’t eating less. 💯💯💯The goal is eating consistently, nourishing your body, and creating safety so your system can settle instead of staying on high alert.

You don’t need more rules. You need more support, steadiness, and understanding of what your body is actually asking for right now. FOOD!!!!!

Follow for more midlife support.❤️

Stop cravings by eating more!🍫🍪

💥This might surprise you.
It’s dieting that may cause you to eat more sugar.

Restricting food, skipping meals, cutting carbs, or trying to “be good” all day sends your body into stress mode.

Blood sugar drops. 👇Cortisol rises.👆Your brain looks for the fastest source of comfort and energy. Sugar.👎🧁

For hormonal women over 50 navigating midlife, this hits even harder.
⭐️Lower estrogen and progesterone, rising insulin resistance, and higher stress hormones make restriction backfire fast.

⭐️⭐️The more you diet, the louder the cravings get.

This is why white-knuckling through the day almost always ends with nighttime sugar, secret eating, or feeling out of control around food.

Real change starts when you stop fighting your body and start supporting it.

👉Regular meals. Enough protein. Blood sugar balance. Nervous system support.

Confused? I was too.😫

Postmenopause can feel confusing.

On one hand, all you want is peace. 🌺Quiet. Calm. Less noise in your head and your life.🙏🙏

And then on the other hand, you’re snapping over the smallest things and thinking, what is wrong with me?😕

Here’s the part no one explains
👇👇
Postmenopause does not automatically mean everything is balanced.💯💯

⭐️Estrogen and progesterone are still lower.
⭐️Insulin resistance and cortisol can still be rising.
⭐️PLUS midlife stress, old patterns, emotional load, and years of putting yourself last, your nervous system can stay on edge.

So yes, you can crave peace and still feel reactive.

If you’re a midlife woman navigating postmenopause and midlife and thinking, I just want to feel calmer in my body and mind, you don’t have to do this alone.

DM COOL to join our support group for midlife women.🌺❤️🌺

🌸 Postmenopause is not always the finish line we were promised.😕😕

I kept dealing with weight gain, puffiness, cravings, constipation, and random aches and pains long after my period stopped ✨ I thought something was wrong with me, or that this was just how aging felt. Ugh!!!

🌼 What I finally learned is this.👇👇
My hormones were still not balanced, and I was still insulin resistant.

Postmenopause does not automatically mean your body is regulated. Low estrogen and progesterone, rising cortisol, and unstable blood sugar can keep symptoms going for years if they are never addressed ⭐

💗 This is why so many hormonal women over 50 navigating midlife feel stuck despite eating better or trying harder. The body needs support, not punishment 🌿 When you understand what is actually driving the symptoms, everything changes.

If you want to dig deeper, send me a DM and I’ll share about our group called the 💕cool girl collective for women over 40.

Feeling out of control with sugar in midlife? 🍫🍪🍦And thinking your midsection has everything to do with all the sugar you’re eating?

This isn’t a willpower issue, my friend. It’s often hormonal and nervous system driven.⭐️⭐️⭐️

👉As estrogen and progesterone decline, cortisol and insulin resistance tend to rise.

👉When your body is overstressed and cortisol keeps spiking, cravings get crazier and emotional eating becomes the fastest form of relief.

💥💥This is why calming your nervous system is the real work in midlife. When your body feels safer, the urge to soothe with food softens.

🌺A few simple ways to start regulating before you eat all the sugar and carbs:👇👇👇
• Slow, deep breathing to signal safety
• EFT tapping to release emotional stress
• Walking, especially outdoors, to lower cortisol
• Pausing and grounding your body before reaching for food

You don’t need more discipline. 💕💕You need support, regulation, and compassion during this hormonal season.

If you’re navigating midlife health, stress eating, or hormonal changes, DM COOL to learn more about a support group that could truly change your life.❤️

I miss a body I never appreciated.😕

There’s a quiet grief that women over 40 like me feel.🥲

You look at photos from 5 or 10 years ago and wish you could go back. But the truth is, when you were in that body, you were still critical. 🙁Still chasing smaller, tighter, different.

I was so not present with my body. I was so not forgiving or compassionate.

Midlife hormones shift everything. Estrogen and progesterone decline. Cortisol and insulin often rise. Fat storage changes. Muscle responds differently. Energy feels unpredictable. None of that means something is wrong with you. It means your body is adapting. we have to deal with the changes and there are definitely ways to feel good again.💯💯

This midlife time asks for a different kind of care.
More nourishment.
More strength.
More rest.
Better boundaries.
Less punishment.

When you stop trying to force your old body back and start supporting the one you have now, confidence begins to return.🌺🌺🌺

If you’re navigating this season and don’t want to do it alone, the Cool Girl Collective is a support group for midlife women who want real conversations, connection, and guidance around hormones, food, body image, and confidence.

How are you doing for real? 🤣

Honestly…
Do you ever feel like your hormones are off and you’re one comment away from a meltdown?

Sugar is calling your name and you’re about ready to snap at someone?

I hear you! Being over 50 doesn’t mean you’re out of the woods with all the menopausal symptoms and hormonal changes.

Even if you’re on hormone therapy, they could be off because of gut health or stress.💯💯💯

⭐️When estrogen and progesterone are dropping and cortisol is running the show, it’s not just moodiness.

It’s irritability, cravings, anxiety, brain fog, and feeling like you’re barely holding it together while still showing up for everyone else.

👉You’re not dramatic.
👉You’re not overreacting.
👉You’re hormonal and overwhelmed.

And you don’t have to handle it alone.

If you want real support, real conversations, and women who get this season of life, come hang out with us inside the Cool Girl Collective. DM COOL and I’ll share how to join.

What a way to end the year with the Emotional Eats🌺 podcast!

Thank you 🙌🙌

⭐️Family stress doesn’t stay in the past. It lives in the body.💯

In this short clip from the Emotional Eats podcast, I talk with Dr. Dawnmarie Risley, a board-certified psychiatrist, about dysfunctional family dynamics, boundaries, and why emotional eating is often a response to chronic stress and guilt.

👉👉If family relationships still trigger your nervous system or your eating, this conversation offers insight, validation, and a new way to look at healing.🙏
