Today is World Arthritis Day. Arthritis occurs when the cartilage that lines your joints wears down over time. Cartilage allows for smooth and pain-free movement of the bodys joints. As that cartilage wears away, it results in friction, leading to pain and stiffness of the bodys joints. The types of arthritis differ in their cause, symptoms, and progression. While all types cause joint pain and inflammation, some are caused by wear and tear, while others are due to an overactive immune system or other factors. Arthritis is progressive condition, meaning it will get worse over time. Due to that, identifying that you have arthritis and starting treatment as soon as possible is crucial for you to keep your body's pain low and to keep your day to day function.
