SAVAC crews made a run to Syracuse today and took a moment to stop by the historic Landmark Theatre. Always nice to appreciate a little history along the way.

🎄 Toy Drive Success! 🎄

A huge thank you to everyone who donated items for our toy drive! Thanks to this amazing community, SAVAC collected over 200 toys for kids this holiday season❤️🎁

We even had some special visitors stop by—Buddy the Elf, Mrs. Claus, and of course the Grinch. The Grinch did try to steal the toys and make a run for it with the truck… but don’t worry, he was caught just in time and escorted away! 😉

Thank you again to everyone who helped make this event such a success. Your generosity will make a lot of children smile this Christmas! 🎅💚🎄

It’s the perfect time to pause and thank BBL Trucking and Excavating for their hard work and expert suggestions at the start of our expansion at our Epharatah, NY station. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to doing the job right made a huge difference, and the work they performed came out perfect. We truly appreciate their partnership and dedication to helping us grow.

🎁 St. Johnsville EMS – Stuff the Truck Toy Drive! 🎁

We’re excited to be participating in a “Stuff the Truck” Toy Drive to help spread some holiday cheer this season! ❤️

Anyone wishing to participate can drop off a new, unwrapped toy at either of our stations:

🚑 Station on Route 29:
Place your toy donation in the orange and white ambulance parked in the lot.

🚨 St. Johnsville Station:
You can leave your toy in the breezeway.

Both locations are monitored by cameras, so your generous donations will stay safe until they’re delivered to local children in need.

We’ll be taking all collected toys to the Emergency Services Convoy on November 29th at 10 AM — let’s fill that truck before then! 🙌

Help us make the holidays a little brighter for kids in our community! 🌟

How we started....

St. Johnsville Volunteer Ambulance Corps was founded on November 26, 1968. A group of local community members gathered at the St. Johnsville Community House and discussed the need for a volunteer Ambulance Corp. Mayor Angelo Giaquinto presided over the meeting. At this meeting the very first Board of Directors was appointed, consisting of Robert Perry, Joe Green, Frank Christiance, Joe Rider, John Bilobrowka, Carmine Giaquinto and Carlo Polidori.

At the time the local funeral directors would use a hearse to transport the sick and injured to the local hospital.

After several months of hard work, St. Johnsville Volunteer Ambulance opened the “ambulance doors” on January 1, 1969.

They needed to start the engine up quickly as the first “activation” for a call came on January 1, 1969 with an automobile accident at the Old Mill Inn on Rt 5. This Inn no longer stands but the old log books tell us that the first crew to answer the call were J. Bilobrowka, K. Mereness and G. Jubar. The log book indicates that 3 patients were transported to Little Falls Hospital.
