Makers Fix Night at Creekwood Acres

Somewhere along the way, we stopped repairing things and started replacing them. Once a month, we’re opening the shop at Creekwood Acres to slow that down a bit. Bring the item you were about to discard. Learn how it functions. Repair what you can. Just gauging interest… a maximum of 10 people on a date to be determined based on feedback. Most likely one day a month on a weekday eve.

This is my first time using this metal cutting skill saw made by evolution. Pretty impressive. It’s a 15‘3“ length I had to trim because for some reason there was a bow in the wall in the 6 x 6/4“ thick angle iron bolted to that took on that contour. This had to be perfectly straight for the other half of the hinge to be welded together as it’ll be a hinge that supports a stage that folds up to the wall. I got about 7 feet into the cup before my arms needed a break, then finished up the last bit and a couple passes and realized it got so hot that the plastic latch on the chip catching apparatus had melted as well as the interior slide out door to empty the chips from the case. Little disappointed about that, but I was watching the green light and it didn’t go red until the very end, which meant it was needing a break. But overall pretty cool too. what do you think it would take to get a new plastic latch and maybe convince them ( Evolution) # that it should be aluminum or metal?
