Office for Equity and Diversity 41st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Concert: Messengers of Peace
We invite you to join us virtually for the 41st Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Tribute Concert on Sunday, January 16 at 4 pm. This year’s concert, which will be live-streamed from Ted Mann Concert Hall, invites each of us to reflect upon the legacy of Dr. King and consider how we can take up the mantle to be “messengers of peace” in our everyday lives and interactions. The program, hosted and curated by U of M alumnus G. Phillip Shoultz, III of VocalEssence, intermixes the words of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with musical performances from U of M students and the greater Twin Cities community. Featuring a quintet of artists from VocalEssence Singers of This Age, the University of Minnesota Gospel Choir (Adrian Davis, conductor), Joe Davis and The New Renaissance, artists from the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ) and the contemporary dance company STRONGmovement, and more.
This annual event honors Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Dr. Reginald Buckner, founder of the MLK, Jr. Concert, and is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Office for Equity and Diversity and the School of Music.

Marc was Founder and CEO of the Twin Cities Recovery Project and a trusted voice on the MARRCH Board of Governors. His vision, advocacy and compassion for people in need of treatment and those in recovery made an impact at the local, state and national levels. He truly lived and embodied the spirit of recovery and the exceptional things that people in recovery accomplish. Marc’s lasting legacy will live on in all of who had the privilege of knowing him.
