About Dr. David

Raja is the foremost expert on the Therapeutic Assessment (TA) model in the upper Midwest. He participated in intensive trainings on TA with the model’s creator Dr. Stephen Finn in Austin, Texas. In 2015, he earned certification in the adult TA model by the Therapeutic Assessment Institute, of which he is now a member. In addition to conducting TAs, he has trained over 100 clinicians in this approach through workshops and graduate courses. He has also presented at professional conferences on TA and was a plenary speaker at the 2015 Inaugural Collaborative/Therapeutic Assessment Conference and presented on the model with Stephen Finn at the 2019 Society for Personality Assessment (SPA) Annual Conference. In 2019 he also recorded two podcasts on TA for The Testing Psychologist Podcast. He has written on the model for the professional publication the TA Connection, and has consulted with numerous professionals and agencies seeking to implement TA with their clients.

Raja started his career as a middle school social studies teacher, which built his passion for helping young people. He received his Doctorate in Psychology (PsyD) at the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology in 2002, and he is board certified in Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychology (ABPP). In addition to his proficiencies in assessment, he has also provided individual and family therapy throughout his career and conducts such services in a highly collaborative and relational fashion. He is the former Program Dean of the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology, and as a faculty member he taught doctoral courses related to providing psychological services, including an elective course on Therapeutic Assessment.
