Hey shelter med followers!!
To make sure you get all of the information needed for our news and upcoming events please join our Facebook group (UMN CVM SCASV Shelter Medicine Club) as we will be using this group as the primary means of info dissemination!
This group is for both members and those that are just interested in keeping tabs with shelter med information. We will make an announcement at our intro meeting on 9/30 then closing this page that day.

Last year, MACC and A Rotta Love Plus teamed together to provide free vaccinations to an area of North Minneapolis contributing the most Parvo positive dogs to MACC's intake. Some of our members took part in the event last year, and had a wonderful time doing physicals on animals of all shapes and sizes, diffusing difficult situations, and practicing client communication. In fact, we Shelter Med members vaccinated over 100 animals that day! Well, they're hosting a similar vaccine clinic this year, a little earlier on July 18th from 10:00am-1:00pm (although they would like us to stay 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after) and need 12 students to come along. Please reply if you are interested!

Fellow vet students: if anyone is interested in helping out with a local rescue organization and getting some experience and contact with shelter veterinarians in the area, please email us about an exciting volunteer as a vetting volunteer with Ruff Start rescues. The University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine's Shelter Medicine Club (SCASV) is excited to announce their online silent auction fundraiser- please check it out and spread the word! All proceeds support SCASV, a non-profit student organization whose activities include hosting educational speakers and wetlabs on campus as well as organizing off-campus trips to various shelters and animal control facilities.

The auction consists of an autographed football from Gopher coach Jerry Kill, and an autographed basketball from Gopher coach Richard Pitino! The links to these items are below and the bidding for each item starts at $50. The auction will close at midnight on March 16, 2014 (bids are time-stamped).
