Maternal deaths are largely preventable, but MN still experiences nearly 18 pregnancy-related deaths per 100,000 live births (about 1 in 5,600). That is unacceptably high, & Black + American Indian people are disproportionately impacted.
Family physicians play a vital role in maternal health — providing prenatal care, deliveries & postpartum care across the state, especially in rural + underserved communities.
