Today’s ruling reinstating in-person requirements for mifepristone is an unjustified rollback that restricts access to care, undermines physician judgement and threatens the patient–physician relationship. The AAFP has long supported policies that enable physicians to prescribe medications and treatments via telehealth, which reduce unnecessary barriers to care.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) is sounding the alarm on payer downcoding in primary care.

Instead of denying claims, insurers are quietly paying less — often using algorithms without full clinical context or physician input.

The AAFP is urging federal regulators to investigate & ensure transparency, fairness + accountability, while also equipping members with tools to take action.
