Those of you who follow us know we LOVE our youth summer programs!! We are thrilled that our Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs (NBT) Inclusion Maufacturing Summer Camp is underway and our first week was busy.

Camp participants began the week with team building activities and baseline lessons in measurements and blueprints. The group toured best-in-class manufacturer, True Manufacturing to learn more about their operation and program a robot! The week ended with a project to practice our new skills by building a sheet metal tool box.

Stay tuned to see what manufacuring skills our campers learn this week and which area manufacturer they visit!

Freddie’s journey with BCI began in August 2011 through our organizational employment program. In 2017, he transitioned into competitive employment here and by 2020 achieved his dream of being named a Staff Line Worker.

Freddie exemplifies many of our core values, so it was a big deal earlier today when he was honored with our iPraise award! He performs his job with enthusiasm and integrity and goes above and beyond. He takes pride in his work, values being part of the team, and inspires us with his dedication to the mission and vision.

This just in! Today our Lincoln County team enjoyed their brand-new pergola awning for the first time, thanks to a generous grant from Toyota Missouri! The installation earlier this week, expertly handled by Innovative Shade Solutions, was a hit! The team is absolutely loving their stylish and comfortable new outdoor space. The sun won't keep them inside anymore during lunches and breaks!

Josh graduated from the Skills Center's Embassy Suites program last year and later found that meeting the expected timeframe for cleaning hotel rooms was a challenge. Recognizing his potential, we worked with management to pivot him to the kitchen—and here, he has truly shined! He continues to impress everyone with his eagerness to learn new things and his openness to feedback. Josh's self-motivation and proactive attitude make him an invaluable part of the Embassy team.
