Can we just stop it?
The lack of women supporting women on social media when it comes to posts about birth and birth information. It can be so disheartening.
Having a hospital birth that goes off without a hitch does not give you the right to talk down to people birthing at home. And having a beautiful picturesque birth at home with no complications does not give you the right to belittle those who feel safer in a hospital or with medication.
If you've been here for a while, you know that my content educates AND pokes fun regarding medicated and unmedicated, hospital or home birth.
I have been humbled by birth. By my personal experiences and by the many experiences of those that I have held throughout this momentous time. Do you want to know what I have learned?
I've learned that there is more than one way to birth your baby. That minds, bodies and desires vary. And that my job is to support and educate, no matter what your choices are.
You should plan to have your baby however YOU think you should birth your baby.
That's the BEST plan.
Now, do I think you should be educated with evidenced based material, confident in your decisions and prepared to enter your birth space. Absolutely, yes!
You can do that no matter what you choose for your birth. And you can do that with me ๐
Interviewing doulas? Here are a few important questions some people forget to ask
โIf my home birth has to transfer to the hospital, do you go with me? (Some doulas leave and go home. I've witnessed this as a birth assistant)
โWhat if I change my mind about my plan mid-birth? (ex. get an epidural when I originally didn't want one) Can you still support me?
โIf I agree to an induction or cesarean, how do you support me?
Hi! My name is Cara๐๐ผ I'm a birth doula and childbirth educator who supports your birth and your choices.
