The times are changing… Dr. Kate will be moving on this summer!
Don’t freak out! Her last day isn’t until July 19th!
This message is from our founder Dr. Kaylee:
To have been blessed with loyalty, commitment, support, and learning by Dr. Kate for 2.5 years has been such a wonderful thing.
Yes my heart aches for what feels like a loss but it’s full for the growth I’ve had by knowing her! She has helped me see things I wouldn’t have without her.
While I’m sad her family is moving from Tampa bay this summer, I am thankful we were all graced with her presence for so long.
To Dr. Kate: we hope your move and transition will be easy and fulfilling. Thank you for who you are, walking alongside me for pregnancy and postpartum, and being a stronghold in my business for this long. Forgiving me and growing with me during these years will never be forgotten.
You will ALWAYS be a HOPE Doc.
To our clients: she will not be taking new clients starting middle of June, and her last day is July 19th. She will discuss with you what happens next ❤️
We love you Dr. Kate!

Why “training your core” matters

We’ve been doing this for years. And we’ve seen it all…

You NEED to train your core…. Then everything is a core exercise so you don’t need to isolate the core…

And honestly what I’ve learned, and observed, is that we need a balance of both.

We do need to understand how to properly turn on muscle groups - while also understanding that isn’t functional and we have to be able to carry it over.

If we don’t ever learn how to activate our lower abdominal wall, will those muscles turn on by themselves during getting out of bed postpartum? Or with heavier lifting?

It matters because being able to FEEL a muscle do what it’s meant to do can be SO REWARDING.

Every day a client tells me “I’ve never felt those muscles before!“ And the excitement and desire to progress has begun!

It’s an incredible journey of learning to balance and fluctuate with the differences and the things we can control vs not…

But it’s so important that you understand how your body functions in order to really see progress and improvement!

Vulvo-Vestibulo-Vaginismus, Oh My 😱

I have a ton of clients who come in with a blanket term of “pelvic pain” and their provider seems to give them the same treatment for all.

While, yes, some of the treatments may be the same, but in pelvic floor therapy, they are wildly different.

This is a GENERAL overview of the defined term - how many are affected - causes - treatment - and pelvic floor therapy treatment for each type.

As you can see - they are quite different.

Vulvodynia means pain at the v***a (the outside layers)

Vestibulodynia means pain at the vestibule (a form of vulvodynia)

Vaginismus is pain INSIDE the va**na.

During your first session, we MUST decide which you are dealing with because home care will be different.

For example - if you have Vestibulodynia, doing perineal de-sensitization won’t be helpful and internal work every session may not be indicated.

What questions do you have?!
