The fourth trimester can feel overwhelming, but connection makes all the difference.

I wish during my first postpartum experience I shared my story, looked for connections, reached out for help.

Having a postpartum doula who supports you, listens to you, and has those local connections can make all the difference in the world for you and your family.

Welcome Pearl Jane Bellomo. Just shy of a week of her due date.

My baby was born yesterday afternoon at 3:08 and boy was it wild. We got to the hospital around 11AM they checked me and I was at 1CM I was obviously not very happy to get the hospital that early. We called our doula and told her not to come yet, thank god she didn’t listen to us!

45 mins later I was completely dilated! For a first time labor my mind was not fully catching up with my body.

I was having the urge to push but no contractions to help bring her down. My OB promised a vaginal delivery so with a little help with the vacuum we were able to deliver the baby no medication until the very end.

MAJOR SHOUTOUT to and for listening to her doula instincts and guiding me through a very fast labor!

Also major shoutout to .madalyndc and for adjusting me throughout my entire pregnancy. We can’t wait to bring Pearl in for her first eval!

Big news happened just yesterday at the White House! VP will host the first ever meeting with cabinet officials to discuss Maternal Health Week.

In this meeting our VP will discuss programs such as “birthing friendly” hospitals and early childhood home visiting programs and so many more important opportunities for maternal health in the US.

Link down below if you’d like more information on Vice President Harris’s call to action on Maternal Health.

Just a little post. I don’t have many shots of me doing my doula work but I think this photo with my baby sister will do.

These past 3.5 years working as a birth doula has truly changed my life and I have learned so much about myself and have learned so many new things along the way serving birthing people and their families.

I am thankful for the support from my friends and family and the connections I’ve made along the way!

This whole week is focused on doulas so, what is a doula?

A birth doula is someone who supports a birthing person and their support system physically, emotionally, and provides evidence based information to help make informed decisions leading up to and during labor.

A postpartum doula is similar to a birth doula but works with families and birthing people after labor and delivery. This work often happens at the birthing persons home.

Whether you are searching for a postpartum or birth doula we are here to help you make the best decision possible.

On 2/2/2022 I had the honor of supporting another strong and amazing mom.

We also were also able to take a tour of moms placenta, isn’t it amazing?

Did you know that the placenta is the only organ that a birthing person can grow specifically to nurture their baby during pregnancy?

There are also two sides to this organ, the birthing persons side and the baby’s side, along with the amniotic sac. Mom called the sac “baby’s apartment for the past nine months.”

Birth and birthing bodies will never cease to amaze me 🥰.

It was so so nice to re connect with my first ever client!

Can’t believe how fast one year has gone by but I am so grateful our families were able to meet and hang today for a few hours in the sun.

About Me, Why I became a Doula, What is a Doula?

A birth Doula is a support for you and your partner before, during, and after your birth. I am trained to give physical, emotional, and informational support to you and your loved ones throughout your journey. I offer two pre-natal meetings for you and your partner. During the initial prenatal visit, I will get to know you and your partner on a deeper level. I will ask what your priorities are and explore any anxieties or concerns you may have.

I will stay with you throughout the entire birthing process; and I am there an hour after for any additional support. I am a certifying birth Doula, which means I have attended a three-day intensive training on the tools that are necessary to have when assisting with a live birth. I have the skills it takes to help you and your partner before, during, and after your birth.

In addition to my Doula training, I have my bachelor’s degree in both Sociology and Social Work. As someone who has worked in these three fields, I understand the importance of practicing empathy daily. I have a very calming presence, which I believe will help you and your family through this exciting, but sometimes stressful, time. I will be attentive to you and your partner’s needs throughout the laboring process. I have a passion for helping people and I want to support birthing people before, during and after their births. I believe that the birthing process is an extraordinary part of life. It is an honor to be a part of you and your family’s birth story.
