Blog - Nurse Burnout: Spirit Work on the Edge of Life and Death

Nurses live on the edge of life and death, carrying not only the weight of care but the invisible threads of spirit. This powerful blog explores how exhaustion, grief, and spiritual overwhelm are not signs of weakness—but calls for deeper healing. If you're a healer, caregiver, or simply holding space for others, this message is for you.

The ICU is Not Just a Ward. It is a Portal.
Whether you call it by its clinical title or understand it as sacred ground, the ICU is a transitional space. It is a place of initiation—for patients and caregivers alike. Day after day, nurses walk into rooms where life is exiting or struggling to stay. The hospital is a temple of science, but the ICU is a threshold between the seen and unseen worlds.

And yet, this aspect of the job is rarely acknowledged. No one warns nurses that they will absorb energy from the dying. That patients who die in pain can leave behind an emotional residue that clings to their caregivers. That some spirits don’t want to leave, and may reach out to the nearest living body—especially the nurse who stayed at their side the longest.

La Sirene Returns: Caribbean Prosperity Ceremony

La Sirene Returns to the Shore and We Answered Her Call
Last year, beneath the moonlight and the crashing waves, La Sirène rose in all her splendor—and we rose with her. The sacred drums pulsed like a heartbeat from the ocean floor. Old prayers returned to the wind. Offerings floated into her waters. And a ceremony long hidden—one that lives deep in ancestral memory—was reborn through our hands, our voices, and our tears.

Devotees wept and were healed.
Children offered shells and whispered dreams.
Elders stood in still reverence.
And for a single, powerful night—we became the sea’s living altar.

Now, as the tides call once again, many are returning—those who remember, and those who are being called for the first time. They return to stir the sacred waters. To revive a forgotten rite. To let the mystery of the sea wash over their lives.

La Sirene: Spirit of the Islands

La Sirène is a Lwa—she is a living thread in the fabric of the Caribbean’s sacred past and mystical present. She has touched every island shore:

In Haiti, she is worshipped in Vodou as the radiant queen of the deep—mirror in hand, veiled in coral and pearl, a siren of beauty, wealth, and second sight.

In Cuba, she swims through Santería and Espiritismo, blending with Yemayá and emerging in healing prayers of the sea.

In Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, her spirit is felt in caves, coastal shrines, and sacred springs, honored by brujas and spirit workers for generations.

In Jamaica, she is the mystery within the river, a protector who carried ancestors through freedom and transformation.

She is a mystério, a prophetess, a protector. A flower from the sea.
And this year, as always—she is calling again.

Temple de la Luna welcomes you.

The Spirit of Cinco de Mayo: Resistance, Memory, and Sacred Sovereignty

From the Ministry of Priestess Shoshana at Temple de la Luna

Cinco de Mayo is often seen through the lens of parades, music, and food — and while celebration has its place, we must also remember that this day is rooted in resistance.

On May 5, 1862, during the Battle of Puebla, a small Mexican army achieved what few thought possible — they defeated a much larger, better-armed French military force. This was not just a military triumph. It was a moment charged with ancestral courage, spiritual protection, and divine timing.

At Temple de la Luna, we do not simply observe history — we enter into it spiritually. Cinco de Mayo invites us to feel the vibration of collective resistance echoing through time. It asks us to recognize that there is a spiritual current running through all acts of sovereignty, all battles for land, dignity, and identity.

This day reminds us:

That spiritual power often rises strongest from those underestimated.

That the ancestors are present in every act of courage

That cultural memory is a sacred tool in the fight against erasure

That joy, wellness, and celebration are not luxuries — they are acts of rebellion when offered in a world that has tried to silence you.

Cinco de Mayo is not about independence in the political sense — it is about the soul’s resistance. It is about holding your ground, calling upon divine allies, and refusing to be conquered in spirit, even when your body or land is under threat.

As a Moon Cycle Temple — a temple of body and soul — we recognize the deep relationship between earth-based traditions, ancestral wisdom, and modern-day healing. When we honor our stories, we heal. When we cook the foods of our lineage, we invoke sacred protection. When we light candles in prayer, we become part of an unbroken line of resilience.

So today, whether you are of Mexican descent or simply walking the path of spirit, take a moment to honor the warriors who came before you. Reflect on your own sacred resistance. Ask yourself:

Where am I being called to stand my ground?
What forces in my life seek to colonize my spirit?
How can I return to joy as an act of sacred defiance?
And above all, remember: no soul truly stands alone when they walk with their ancestors.

Viva la luz del alma — Long live the light of the soul.
With faith, fire, and freedom,

Temple de la Luna Presents: The Radiance Within
Holistic Healing, Ancestral Wisdom, and the Power of Living in Alignment

Your body is more than biology — it is a sacred vessel of memory, rhythm, and divine intelligence.

At Temple de la Luna, we believe that true healing begins when we listen to our bodies, not just treat them.

Holistic medicine is not only about herbs and oils — it’s about the mind-frame we carry, the foods we choose, and the spiritual alignment we maintain through the cycles of nature.

When you nurture your mind, you change your vibration.
When you align with your body, you activate your energy.
When you feed your soul, you radiate from within.

We are a moon-cycle temple, rooted in traditional Caribbean wisdom, and we honor each phase of life, body, and spirit.

Our mission is to help you return to a lifestyle that reflects your rhythm, not someone else’s blueprint.

Did you know…?
There are five distinct body types — and each one has unique needs, rhythms, and nourishment requirements.

Many “natural medicine” systems taught today are rooted in European models, but your body may carry a different ancestral language.

That’s why we recommend eating for your body’s lineage — not the latest trend.

Caribbean, Indigenous, African, Asian, Latin, and Diasporic traditions all carry spiritual lineage foods — sacred, seasonal, and deeply healing.

These foods regulate your energy, balance your mood, and support ancestral memory.

Your radiance comes not just from eating clean — but from eating in alignment.

You are invited to reconnect.

To discover what your body is truly asking for.

To embrace holistic medicine not as a quick fix, but as a sacred relationship.

Begin by asking yourself:

What phase of the moon am I in emotionally?

What does my body type truly need to feel light, strong, and alive?

What did my ancestors eat to stay grounded, radiant, and resilient?

At Temple de la Luna, we guide you through this remembering.
Through intuitive readings, spiritual life coaching, ancestral healing, and holistic wellness sessions — we help you build a lifestyle of sacred alignment.

You don’t need to be perfect.
You just need to be willing to listen to your own body’s truth.

Radiance is a birthright.
Healing is an ancestral memory.
You are ready.
