Perfect fall morning.....coffee on the front porch watching a kite surfing competition across the street, and morning backyard foraging. Happy Saturday!

Callicarpa Americana (Beauty Berry) Berries make a colorful snack, and tasty jelly. Tea from the Berries has a pleasant and comforting taste and experience similar to chammomile and also good for tummy troubles. The leaves can be crushed and rubbed on the skin for a bug repellent and also used in a pinch as camping toilet paper. This is one I know very well and have grown and used for years. It often times, though not always, grows right next to an Elder tree.

*Fact Fact: these grow next to Touch Down Jesus! Next time you are walking down Pere Antoine Alley in the French Quarter, take a closer look along side the iron fence.

Makes 11 8oz jars and I had infusion left over to sip and share over the weekend.

The experience of drinking the infusion is very pleasent and comforting like a soft comfy blanket. Similar to Chammomile, and also useful for tummy troubles. 🌿
