Pregnancy can be such an incredible time, but can also be extremely difficult on the body. These tips above are very general, and I want you to focus on what is best for you, and doing your best each day. That might look vastly different from day to day depending on your symptoms, and that’s okay! You are growing an entire human and that is bound to take a lot out of a person.

✨Health Diet: Focus on protein, and vegetable intake to get good nutrition for your baby. It’s completely natural to crave more carbs during this time because of how much energy your body is using. Be mindful of your blood sugar levels, especially if you have gestational diabetes.

✨Exercise Regularly: Something as simple as a 30 minute daily walk can be fantastic for you! Now is not the time to be adventurous and finally try on those running shoes however!

✨Birth Plan: If it will comfort you to put some notes together for your delivery, feel free to do so! Just remember that babies do things at their own time and everything may not go perfectly according to plan.

✨Prenatal Vitamin: A high quality prenatal vitamin with folic acid is extremely crucial during pregnancy, along with a Prenatal DHA. I actually recommend that patients begin this when they are trying to conceive! My personal favorite brand to recommend and use myself is Thorne Basic Prenatal and Prenatal DHA. Check them out on my Fullscript if you are searching for a prenatal!

With many people returning or beginning university in the next few weeks, there can be a normal amount of stress associated with this change. It can be difficult to learn how to make yourself a priority, but I promise that if you are able to find a balance between prioritizing your physical and mental health while enjoying college and experiencing new things (which let’s be real, college is the best time for this!) you will not just survive, but thrive!

Be sure to socialize with new or old friends!

Try to fit in some exercise! You can always do this in a fun way, whether it is a fitness class you and your friends take together, or a long exploratory walk of a new city you are living in!

It can be very easy to slip into quick things to grab at the dining hall while rushing between classes or activities, however nutrition will keep your physical and mental health feeling good! My rule of thumb is if you can aim for 80% of a nutritious diet, you are doing an exceptional job!

Finally, be sure to reach out for help when you need it! Your loved ones, friends, professors and on campus health services want you to succeed and will support you the best that we can!

Good luck to everyone starting the school year!

Breastfeeding can be such a beautifully bonding experience between parent and child, but don’t believe anyone if they say there are no other experiences that will bond you and your child! As beautiful and lovely the breastfeeding journey can be, it can also come with significant challenges, whether that is low supply, latch issues, pain, or the discomfort that comes with it. No matter how long the journey, or if you decide to embark on the journey at all, the most important thing is getting your baby adequate nutrition, while prioritizing your mental and physical health along the way too!

✨Inform your birth team that you would like skin to skin to strengthen the bond between you and your baby, while also regulating both your nervous systems
✨ Get support from a lactation consultant to help with latching concerns - you can find some very helpful information on instragram from
✨ Be kind and patient with your baby, and yourself
✨ Make sure you have the correct fl**ge size for when you are pumping to avoid supply issues and painful ni***es
✨ Ask your favorite ND for how you can use nutrition to support your supply, or for a clean and nutritious formula for when your breast feeding journey ends!
