‼️SCAM ALERT‼️: Back Braces

Salem Township Hospital has been made aware that some individuals have received phone calls where the caller ID name/number displays SALEM TWP HOSP or some form of Salem Hospital. The caller then offers “free” back or knee braces to get your Medicare number, commit identity theft, and bill Medicare for equipment you do not need. This is a common Medicare fraud scheme. Hang up immediately. Do not provide personal info, only accept braces ordered by your own doctor.

What to do if you get this kind of call:
▪️ Hang up. Do not talk to anyone who calls you out of the blue offering “free” products.
▪️ Do not give out personal information. Never share your Medicare number or Social Security number.
▪️ Do not share your banking information.
▪️ Report the fraud. Call the Medicare Fraud Hotline at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227).
▪️ You can also file a complaint with the FTC.
▪️ Check your Medicare statements. Look over your Medicare Summary Notice for anything you did not order.

If you ever receive a call and are unsure whether it is from Salem Township Hospital, hang up and call the hospital directly at our official phone number, (618) 548-3194, to confirm. This way, you can verify if a call is truly from us and protect yourself from scams.
