Everyone has Influenza A… or at least that’s what it feels like.
A majority of the patients I’m seeing right now have the flu. Influenza brings fever, cough, congestion, sore throat, headaches, body aches, vomiting, diarrhea and fatigue. It is miserable and can last 7-10 days.
For most people, it’s a bad week and they will recover without issues. Unfortunately, influenza can bring a lot of ‘badness’. We’ve admitted a few kids with myositis, asthma exacbations, asthma attacks and dehydration. The pneumonia with influenza is often MRSA. We can see myocarditis or heart inflammation, sepsis, encephalitis, guillain-barré syndrome, ADEM, multi system organ failure and more.
Take flu seriously.
