Still Waters Counseling, LLC Still Waters Counseling is a family-friendly practice specializing in the holistic treatment of menta

Founded in a home office as Hudson Family Therapy in 2000, our growing team of competent and experienced professionals now serves two Michigan communities: Adrian and Saline. The practice changed its name to Still Waters Counseling LLC in 2004 to reflect our aim as therapists to be still and reflective, as well as the peace and calm that we hope our clients will attain through counseling. We are co-owned and operated by a husband-wife team, Dr. Nagpal, and Dr. Pearson, both licensed psychologists with a strong background in family systems, marital and family therapy. Self-stigma refers to the negative self-perceptions and attitudes held by individuals experiencing mental health challenges. For instance, some people believe that if they were 'stronger,' they could overcome any mental health condition. We maintain that stigma is stigma, and we are highlighting these beliefs because they can impact help-seeking behavior and delay appropriate treatment. Read on to discover what our psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, Jessica Knapp, DNP, has to say about common self-beliefs she has heard regarding mental health medications.

Seasonal changes can be disruptive to our mental health. Maria Hadden says, “Left unaddressed, seasonal symptoms can lead to disrupted sleep, withdrawal from social activities, difficulty concentrating at work or school, and an overall lower overall quality of life…Simply put - our mental health does not pause just because the seasons change, and neither should our care for it. “

Yesterday, the Autumn Equinox marked the beginning of a transitional season in the Northern Hemisphere, characterized by decreasing daylight hours and increasing nighttime duration. This reduction in daylight can lead to observable decreases in mood and energy. If you are experiencing these effects, rest assured that you are not alone.

However, if these issues are causing significant distress, it may be beneficial to seek professional help. We currently have availability with some of our therapists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. Our services are available to children aged 3 and above, teenagers, and adults.

To schedule an appointment, please contact our front desk at 734-944-3446; we are open until 8pm on most evenings. Please do not hesitate to reach out for support during this seasonal transition.
