Our youngest can finally enjoy eggs—no allergic reactions, thank God! 🙌🐓 She loves them scrambled with Amish butter, and now she eats it daily. 🥚💛 Truly one of the sweetest blessings from raising our own chickens. ❤️

BIG news from the backyard! 🐔🌿🥚
I was out watering the garden this evening when I heard our hens making quite the ruckus. Thanks to the chicken mom groups, I’ve learned that when hens start shouting like that, it usually means one of two things: either something hurts... or they’re just very proud of laying an egg and want to brag to their hen friends. 😂
Curious, I wandered over to the coop to check the nesting boxes… and there it was — our very first egg!! 🥹

Picture me running from the backyard like a kid on Christmas morning, yelling to the girls, “There’s a surprise in the coop!” 😆They guessed it instantly and raced each other to see who could spot it first.

The giggles, the egg-citement — it was a moment we’ll never forget. 💛

And the sweetest part? Sarah, who’s usually sensitive to eggs, said she wants to try this one and see if it still bothers her. She loves our chickens so much — she checks on them multiple times a day, gives them treats, picks them up, and even takes them on tours around the garden… and sometimes inside the house! 😂🐔

I heard someone say that if you're depressed, you're living in the past; if you're anxious, you're living in the future; and if you're living in both, you're missing the gift of the present.

Last Sunday, a little girl at the church playground pointed out a heart-shaped puddle to her friends and Sarah. This tiny puddle, on the verge of drying up on the concrete, sparked so much joy for them—and for me, too. I didn’t even notice it until she shared it.

This week I’m grateful for the real hearts around us— the generous, thoughtful, and kind hearts of neighbors and friends. Thank you 💛

Our girls truly enjoy having chickens — maybe a little too much. 😂 The youngest checks on them in the coop multiple times a day like a tiny farm security guard. She hugs them, tells them “I love you”… it’s like a feathered fairy tale over here.
I joked, “You tell your chickens ‘I love you’ more than you tell me… I’m getting jealous!” 😩
To be fair… it might not help that I also joke that Brahmas will make some delicious Chicken Joy someday. 🍗😂

Moral of the story: The chickens are winning in both love and food debates. I’m just here for the emotional damage and the future eggs.

I left my garden gloves in the coop, and when I put them on to spread hay, I felt something spiky inside. Thought it was just hay—but nope! It was a black and red caterpillar. 🐛

Used the Seek app to ID it—turns out it's a giant leopard moth caterpillar! 🐆✨

Fun fact: The caterpillar looks intimidating with its bristly spikes, but it's harmless! And the adult moth? Absolutely stunning with bold black and white patterns. Nature’s full of surprises!
