https://truehealthcareutah.com/blog/low-testosterone-in-men-how-to-recognize-the-signs-before-they-impact-your-health

Testosterone isn’t just about muscle and libido -it’s a vital hormone that supports energy, mood, bone strength, brain function, and overall vitality in men.

When testosterone levels drop, the effects can be subtle at first… but over time, they can significantly impact your quality of life.

At True Health Care Utah, we help men understand their bodies, uncover the root cause of hormonal changes, and restore balance naturally. Let’s explore the key signs of low testosterone -and when it’s time to take action.

Why Testosterone Matters
Testosterone is produced mainly in the testicles and helps regulate:

Muscle mass and strength
Bone density
Red blood cell production
Mood and cognitive function
S*x drive and performance
Fat distribution

Levels naturally decline with age, but in some men, they drop earlier or faster due to lifestyle, stress, medical conditions, or environmental factors.

Common Signs of Low Testosterone
If you’re experiencing one or more of these symptoms, it may be time to get your levels checked:

1. Low Energy & Chronic Fatigue
Men with low testosterone often feel unusually tired, even after a full night’s sleep. Workouts, hobbies, and everyday activities may feel more draining than before.

2. Reduced S*x Drive
A noticeable decrease in s*xual interest or spontaneous erections can be a strong indicator of hormonal changes.

3. Loss of Muscle Mass & Strength
Even with regular exercise, you may find it harder to build or maintain muscle. Strength may decrease despite your best efforts.

4. Increased Body Fat - Especially Around the Belly
Low testosterone can change how your body stores fat, leading to more weight around the midsection.

5. Mood Changes
Irritability, depression, brain fog, and reduced motivation are often linked to hormonal imbalance.

6. Difficulty Concentrating
Testosterone supports mental clarity and focus. Low levels can make it harder to concentrate, remember details, or stay sharp at work.

7. Reduced Bone Density
Men with prolonged low testosterone may face increased risk of osteoporosis or fractures.

How We Diagnose Low Testosterone
At True Health Care Utah, we go beyond basic lab tests. While many clinics only check total testosterone, we also assess:

Free testosterone (the active form your body can use)
SHBG (s*x hormone-binding globulin)
Estradiol (important for balance in men)

Other key hormones that may be impacting your testosterone levels

We also look at lifestyle, stress, sleep, nutrition, and toxin exposure to understand the full picture.

Our Holistic Approach to Restoring Testosterone
While some men may benefit from testosterone therapy, we also focus on natural strategies that can help restore balance:

Strength training and resistance exercise
Optimizing nutrition for hormone health
Improving sleep quality
Reducing stress and supporting adrenal function
Addressing nutrient deficiencies (like zinc, vitamin D, and magnesium)

Reducing exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals

Don’t Ignore the Early Signs
Low testosterone doesn’t just affect how you feel now - it can also impact your long-term health, including heart health, bone strength, and cognitive function.

If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms, don’t wait until they worsen. The earlier you address hormonal changes, the better your results.

👉 If you’re in Utah and think you might have low testosterone, schedule a consultation with True Health Care Utah. We’ll help you get the answers, support, and natural solutions you need to feel like yourself again.

Estrogen and Testosterone: A Delicate Balance
Contrary to popular belief, estrogen plays a crucial role in male s*xual health. While testosterone is the primary androgen, estrogen receptors in the brain are responsible for modulating s*xual arousal. Both low testosterone and low estrogen can contribute to reduced libido and increased fat accumulation.

When considering bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) for men, maintaining a balanced ratio of testosterone and estrogen is key. An ideal treatment protocol should evaluate:

Total Testosterone

Free Testosterone

Estradiol (Estrogen)

SHBG (S*x Hormone Binding Globulin)
Make sure you are checking all levels and optimizing the numbers

The Role of Testosterone in the Body
Testosterone contributes to a wide range of bodily functions, including:

Enhancing skeletal muscle strength and cardiac muscle function

Improving blood flow to vital regions such as the coronary and pe**le arteries

Supporting mental clarity, mood stability, and restful sleep

Regulating fat distribution and preventing abdominal obesity

Promoting libido, reproductive health, and emotional well-being

In some patients with lipid abnormalities, testosterone therapy has even been associated with reductions in LDL cholesterol by up to 100 points.

We are starting to see a decline in testosterone levels in men at an early age.
Men are aging faster:
S***m counts are off by 80% since 1950
Testosterone levels are decreased by 50% since the ‘50s
Environment of estrogens affecting men’s testosterone levels
We used to see low T levels in the 70s, now we see it in their 30s…WHY?
Since WW2 our environment has become more toxic.
DDT mimic's estradiol stimulation of breast cancer cells.
Agent Orange – alters DNA sequence, altering hormones, and decreasing s***m count
Food Livestock is injected with estrogen
Heating plastics – Bisphenol A becomes a xenoestrogen
Overconsumption of soy products containing phytoestrogens
*Denmark Study: 98% of men with prostate cancer carry one of these derivatives of plastics and DDT*

Vitamin D has been estimated to regulate up to 2000 genes, which is why it is so critical for many functions in our body. This regulation process of vitamin D is why vitamin D is linked to so many functions such as immune activity, pregnancy, cardiovascular, brain health, mental health, bone, and muscle health. While most people only consider their bone health when thinking about vitamin D, once activated in the body vitamin D targets receptors to modulate blood sugar balance, regulate neurotransmitter balance and even act as an antioxidant.

Vitamin D levels decrease as we age, is affected by skin pigmentation, and geographical location such as those who live at higher latitudes. It is also decreased seasonal and by location and time of day which sunlight reaches the earth.

It is important to test your levels to see they are optimal not just within range and that you are taking the correct dose and absorbing it.

Vitamin D through injection is available, as many people simply do not absorb enough orally to reach optimal levels. Vitamin D is critical to have proper hormone balance. Make sure your levels are being checked.
