Have you heard of the 555 postpartum rule? We live in a culture that encourages new moms to “bounce back” or immediately return to work and normal activities after giving birth. But what if we instead chose to prioritize rest? It is so important to allow yourself to heal and soak up all the newborn bliss. Choosing to follow the 555 rule can help your baby holding and recovery time. This is a great time to practice your boundary setting and relying on your village for assistance. Postpartum doulas can be an excellent resource during this time as well! Will you be trying this out? 🧡

I was terrified to give birth. So much so that I delayed considering having children because of it. I even considered having a cesarean sections, so I wouldn’t have to. Fear is so common and is often perpetuated by the horror stories we hear from other women. It’s healthy to have some fear, but education and practice can set you up to LOVE and even ENJOY your birth. Spend less time organizing your registry and more time preparing yourself and your body for labor. You’ll thank yourself! Message me if you want to take charge of your birth 🧡

I was a poet before getting pregnant. I have never been at a loss for words, but trying to adequately capture the transformation into motherhood with words is something I still struggle to do. Here’s the shortest poem I’ve ever written, but the first I wrote about motherhood 🧡

What is a doula, and what do they do? I didn’t know much about doulas when I became pregnant. After lots of birth research and planning, my mom and I dove into doula practices to better equip ourselves with my birth. I’m so glad we did this! I definitely wish I had hired one during my postpartum period.

If you had known about doulas would you have hired one for your birth?
