We’ve officially launched the Sage & Sensuality Podcast 🎙️

We craved a gathering place for women who are ready to own their stories, their pleasure, and their power, a safe space that extended beyond the walls of the dance studio or a retreat. So we created what we needed and invite you to join us in our circle!

In Episode 1, we share how pole dancing and somatic movement brought us back into our bodies, helped us build community, and sparked the retreats you know as V3nus V3ntur3s. We laugh, we get real, and we share the truth about why creating safe spaces for women is so deeply needed.

Meet one of our founders: Joy

Other than being a little obsessed with pole dancing and tattoos, Joy is a mama of two boys and has been certified in Xpole 1&2, ElevatEd Pole 1&2, ElevatEd Flexibility, Trauma & Recovery, and Reiki 1 Master. She has bachelors degree in Anthropology and Behavioral Science, along with being an avid student of energetic/emotional health and wellness. She's currently training to become a Somatic S*x Educator and NLP practitioner too. Weird fun fact: Joy is also an ordained minister!
All that aside though, Joy was once at a point in life where she totally lost who she was and didn't have anything that was just for her (i.e. full on depressed stay at home mom/wife). After hitting rock bottom, she was introduced to pole dance and during her second pole class (it's a long story) she was hooked…everything changed! She found for the first time in her adult life, she was present in her body, proud of her movement and saw potential in herself like never before. She also saw how it offered space for healing that no other form of therapy had ever come close! Her literal response to that second pole class was "I NEED TO LEARN THIS, SHARE THIS AND GROW THIS!" That's why, since 2015, Joy has developed a one of a kind class that ties in metaphysical awareness, self-help practices, somatic healing and confidence boosting movement/perspective that is sure to bring clarity to all those that participate. She has created exactly what it was that she needed all those years ago. Her main goal is to remind you of what you have forgotten about yourself; You have all the answers already within you, own it!

Meet one of our founders: Megan

Megan is often described as “sparkly ball of energy” & maintains the life philosophy that kindness should be spread like confetti (or glitter if you know her personally). Megan has loved all things dance, cheer & fitness related since as long as she can remember. Though she has only pole danced since 2022, Megan knew she had found her calling to defy gravity through a challenging & unique avenue & became a certified instructor only a few months after her pole journey began.
Megan has overcome many areas of adversity ranging from sexual trauma, opioid dependence, obesity, mental illness, attempted su***de, divorce, severe medical issues (over 30 surgeries & a lifelong autoimmune disease) as well as a multitude of other life challenges.
However no matter what life threw at her, Megan managed to maintain hope & just kept going. She found the only way to get up was to look up, so she did just that. Megan has found her life’s purpose is to help others by empowering them to believe in themselves. Nothing brings her greater joy than watching someone heal themselves from within, while channeling their emotions into movement. Helping other women become their own safe space is her main priority.
Megan wholeheartedly believes the artistic sport of pole fitness encapsulates the ultimate connection with one’s body, mind and soul which allows her to reconnect & evolve as a person daily and she thoroughly enjoys sharing her knowledge with her students.
In addition to being a certified Pole Instructor, Megan has a variety of certifications ranging from American Council on Exercise (A.C.E) Group Fitness, Zumba & A.F.F.A Personal Trainer. She was raised with a “cradle to college” Catholic private school education (you can imagine how well pole dancing went over with her parents) yet knew she had stumbled upon what would allow her to become the best version of herself.
She graduated with a degree in Communications from Loyola Marymount University & implemented a Balanced Life Campaign while in attendance. Surprise fact-Megan is also a certified HVAC Service Technician who was recently honored as one of Ferguson’s “tradeswomen of the year”
She is a voracious reader who continues her quest for knowledge in all areas of mental health & wellness as well as their impact on how the human body & mind process trauma. She is most known for her genuine love of life, family (5 kiddos & hubby), teaching, practicing yoga, palm trees & encouraging others to live their best lives while being there to cheer them on.
Megan absolutely adores animals, spending time in nature & hopes to one day fulfill her dream of owning a pet raccoon. She strives one day to eliminate the stigma surrounding pole fitness and to help guide women into their personal power through pole and V3nus V3ntures.

Meet one of our founders: Bri (Like the cheese)

A collegiate soccer athlete and coach, Bri led outdoor canoeing and backpacking trips in the Maine wilderness as part of Harvard's First-Year Outdoor Program (FOP). Certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, she and her co-leader once pranked a group of first-year students into believing they had trapped a squirrel and grilled it up for breakfast (it was really just summer sausage they had packed in ;). Leading these trips convinced Bri about the power of using groups "for good" and the ways in which immersion in nature can rejuvenate the soul. She also served as the Vice President: programming for her college's chapter of Delta Gamma, an experience which similarly demonstrated the ways in which groups--especially groups of women--can come together to support and help one another heal. After graduating from Harvard, Bri pursued a research assistantship with a Harvard Business School professor examining how organizations and teams can create contexts which lead to individual empowerment as well as group success. As a result, she was invited to co-teach several courses in Social Psychology at Harvard College. Bri's passion for the power of groups led her to earn a PhD at the University of California, Los Angeles in Social Psychology.

Pole first came into Bri's life in 2020, a few years after the birth of her first child, Quinn. She was struggling to adjust to how her body had changed postpartum (ankles rolling left and right!) and, at her teammate Alex's suggestion, came to her first pole class "with a really cool instructor" (spoiler: it was Joy!). She was addicted from day one! With the gift of pole, Bri came to love and accept what her bad-ass body could do and regained her confidence. She especially has appreciated Joy's classes as a space to connect with other women, build her skills, and laugh until she cries. She now owns two (!!) poles, which her kids also love to play on!
