Difference between Tensor Tympani Tendon Syndrome and Eustachian Tube Dysfunction

Do you ever get a sudden thumping sound in your ear or feel it’s ‘full’? These could be signs of TTTS or Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, but they’re very different. TTTS is a tiny muscle spasm, while ETD is all about pressure and tube function.

Ever felt your ears clogged, popping, or just… off? 👂 That’s often Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD)—when your ear’s tiny pressure-regulating tubes aren’t working properly.

The good news? Simple things like swallowing, yawning, chewing gum, or using a nasal spray (if advised) can help. Persistent symptoms? That’s a cue to check in with an audiologist or ENT.

If everyday sounds feel painfully loud, your body might be in “fight or flight” mode. 🧠 One of the best ways to start calming sound sensitivity is through controlled breathing—it helps signal safety to your brain. Pair that with gradual exposure to everyday sounds, and over time, your system can begin to relax and readapt.
