I was recently asked why I do pageants at my age. I have been doing them all my life, but I guess this person thought I was "too old to be playing dress up" so here is my answer to this question.
I do pageants as an adult because growth doesn’t expire at a certain age. Pageantry challenges me to keep evolving mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It pushes me outside my comfort zone and holds me accountable to becoming the best version of myself.
As a woman who has walked through health challenges like PCOS, pageants gave me something powerful: a platform. Through Crowning Confidence with PCOS, I’m able to turn my personal journey into purpose educating, empowering, and encouraging other women who may feel unseen or misunderstood. That is why my volunteer work with Positive Period is so special to me, my Pageantry platform helped me find this group here in my town and I feel so blessed to be able to give back to my community.
Pageants are also about representation. I compete to show that confidence isn’t about perfection,it’s about resilience. It’s about showing up anyway. It’s about embracing your story and wearing it like a crown.
And honestly? I love it. I love the preparation, the sisterhood, the service, and the opportunity to inspire. Pageantry allows me to blend advocacy, leadership, femininity, and fun in one space. Over the past few years I have made some amazing new friends that I never would have met if it wasn't for being in the pageant world, as an adult woman who works from home, making new friends has been gift I didnt know I needed. The way these women have lifted me up, cheered me on and made me feel included has been nothing short of amazing.
Pageants get a bad rep, but let me tell you, the friendships, sisterhood, and all around hype girls in the pageant world need a light shined on them.
Being an adult in pageants isn’t about reliving youth, it’s about redefining what’s possible at every stage of life.
