Did you know: One of the reasons MAMAS was founded was because a group of mamas came together and began advocating for shade at San Angelo area playgrounds. Today, we’re continuing to work toward making that goal a reality. We hope to work with the American Academy of Dermatology to help us build shade structures over playground equipment.

✨ Big News ✨
Mommy and Me Advocacy of San Angelo is officially 501(c)(3) status pending!

This means we are one step closer to becoming a fully recognized nonprofit dedicated to empowering moms to make positive changes in our community—for the benefit of our children. 💛

While the paperwork is processing, our mission doesn’t wait—we’re already building connections, planning projects, and creating a space where moms’ voices lead to real change.

As we move forward, we want to make sure you know who we are and what we’re working toward. Here's a little Q&A to help you get to know us better:

Q: What is this nonprofit all about?

A: We’re a community-rooted nonprofit dedicated to supporting mothers through connection, encouragement, and shared resources—while also creating safe, enriching spaces where kids of all ages can learn, grow, and thrive. Our current initiatives include collecting resources for flood-affected families, raising funds to add shade at local city parks, and hosting kid-centered community events that bring families together.

Q: What will I gain from joining?

A: By joining, you’ll find genuine support and connection through every stage of motherhood, along with opportunities to attend local meetups, member gatherings, and contribute to a growing community that’s making a real impact. You’ll also have a voice—whether it’s sharing ideas, advocating for what matters to your family, or simply finding encouragement. Through advocacy, events, volunteer opportunities, and leadership roles, we’re creating a space where moms feel seen, valued, and empowered—not just as parents, but as individuals.

Q: What does it mean to become a member?

A: Becoming a member means you’re joining our community in a more intentional and connected way. Each member is placed on a committee and plays an active role in supporting our mission—whether that’s helping plan events, contributing ideas, managing communication, or supporting other moms. Members are expected to attend meetings, stay engaged with their committee, and help shape the direction of our work as we grow.

Q: Do I have to pay anything?

A: Yes, there is an annual membership fee. For our very first year, we’re offering an early bird rate of $35 for anyone who signs up before July 31, 2025. Starting August 1, the regular annual fee will be $45 for all new and renewing members. Membership fees are collected every year in July.

Q: Do you offer leadership or volunteer opportunities?

A: Absolutely! We welcome your involvement in many ways—whether that’s helping plan meetups, managing communications, welcoming new members, or shaping future programs. Currently, we have leadership roles available as Committee Chairs for Fundraising, Events, Playdates, and Community Projects.

We’re now officially accepting membership applications for our nonprofit Mommy & Me Advocacy of San Angelo (MAMAS)

Whether you’ve been coming to playdates from the beginning or just joined us recently, we’d love to have you as an official member of this growing community of moms. San Angelo is such a supportive town, and after the recent flood, it’s clear how much we show up for one another.
