Q***r and TRANS individuals often face adversity not only in life—but in death as well. From medical bias to misgendering, estranged families to systemic barriers, end-of-life care for LGBTQIA+ and TRANS communities must be approached with intention, awareness, and cultural humility.

Death Literacy Workshop, created specifically for:

For the second night of our upcoming Summer Summit, we have Capucine Salvi-Offer and Tony Tehle, the director and producer of Through the Eyes of a Death Doula, an IDLM partner.

Death is a universal human experience. However, in American culture, it is often seen as a controversial, taboo topic surrounded by stigmas which leave little room for meaningful discussion and preparation. THROUGH THE EYES OF A DEATH DOULA is a project that explores the complexities of dying and death literacy in the United States. By focusing on the work of end-of-life death doulas and following people in their care, the film sparks conversations around holistic death care in the US and ultimately challenges the traditional ideas of healthcare.

For the first day of our summer summit later this month, we will be featuring
Dr. Cynthia X Pan is an expert in hospice and palliative care, a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Cornell , and a published author (highly recommend her book Exit Strategies).
She will be joining us Monday July 28 to talk about what a palliative care doctor wants death doulas to know. We’re so excited for Dr. Pan to help further mutual understanding between death doulas and clinical professionals, as we aspire to make end-of-life care a more holistic process within our medical systems.

🐾 Fall Enrollment Now Open: Certified Pet Doula Program 🐾

Are you passionate about supporting pets and their families through all stages of life, including the end-of-life journey? The International Doula Life Movement (IDLM) invites you to join our Certified Pet Doula Program, starting September 16, 2025, and running through December 2, 2025.

This comprehensive program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to provide compassionate care and support during times of pet health, sickness, and loss.

🎯 Program Objective:
The main objective of this course is to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful as a Pet Doula. As a Pet Doula, students will provide support and resources to pet owners in taking care of their pets during times of health, sickness, and death.

The course will delve into social, cultural, and spiritual factors that influence pet/animal relationships and care. It will also provide guidance on how to fully enjoy these relationships and provide the best quality of life for pets. Additionally, students will learn how to support others who are experiencing grief from the changing health and/or loss of their pet(s).
