Unbiased opinion: To win defamation: 1. Statement must be proven untrue. 2. It must be fact, not opinion. 3. It must be shared with someone else. 4. You must prove defendant acted with malice. 5. You must show the false statement caused actual damages. ALL 5 must happen for them to win a defamation case.

And they could have easily answered 21 yes or no questions that Candance and her team sent out. Just saying.
