Apollo (a sweet and goofy male Bullmastiff / Pibble mix) is almost a year old and dreaming of his forever home. He is house trained and attends doggie day care in San Antonio. so he is better to play with bigger dogs. He enjoys playing with his Great Dane friend at the local day care and they take naps together. Since he is still a puppy at heart he doesn’t always understand that older dogs don’t want to play, so he might be better with younger dogs. He has not shown any signs of aggression, and has an easy-going nature. Apollo has learned to walk with a training lead and takes 2 mile walks every morning. He is very well behaved on a leash, comfortable with passing people, bicycles, and strollers, and enjoys visiting local farmers markets on weekends, meeting other dogs, and Humans. He also loves to participate in 5 K’s but admittedly can’t run for very long. He likes to walk and exercise so he would be great with an active family - even after a 2 mile walk he will run in the yard, so he would do best with open space to work off his energy. He loves the water and will not leave a sprinkler alone once it is turned on. On a great note he will not jump into a swimming pool so he will do fine if a family has a pool. He has responded great with children and loves to play with them (due to his size small children should be supervised with him since he easily bumps into them) but he has never shown any issues with them. He no longer jumps up on people and sleeps well in a crate. He will chase cats so probably not the best in a home with cats. He definitely needs a leader of the pack within the family because his curiosity gets him into everything. Still chewing on anything he can find so we give him chew bones but the puppy chewing phase is not over yet. Once boundaries are set he listens very well and responds with treats. For example we have taught him to not enter the kitchen while we are cooking so he dutifully sits in the other room watching. He wants to be right by your side at all times but this way we don’t trip on him while cooking. Adoption details:
