New era in dialysis access comes to UT Health SA

Dr. Christopher Mitromaras, MD, Assistant Professor of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at UT Health San Antonio placed our first percutaneous fistulae for dialysis this week (1/14/2020) launching a new era in the comprehensive dialysis access program offered by UT Health SA. Dialysis access is a crucial element in the well-being of patients suffering from end stage renal disease and these patients need dialysis 2-3 times a week to maintain their health. This is WavelinQ 4F EndoAVF System, an endovascular device that creates an AV fistula for hemodialysis without the need for open surgery. Our team of surgeons are trained to perform this procedure, it reduces recovery time greatly and it is done in an outpatient setting.

BD announces the company's WavelinQ 4F endoAVF system has received 510(k) clearance by the US Food and Drug Administration.
