Dr. Matthew Morrey
Dr. Morrey is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with a trained focus in adult hip and knee reconstructive surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He joined the orthopaedic faculty at the UT Health Science Center in 2009 as a specialist in hip and knee reconstructive surgery. In 2014 he became the program director for the UTHSCSA hip and knee reconstructive surgery fellowship. In October 2014 he was one of two U.S. surgeons selected to participate in the John Insall traveling fellowship for knee replacement surgery.
Surgical specialities include: total hip replacement, revision total hip replacement, modular dual mobility bearing surfaces, total knee replacement, revision total knee replacement, partial (uni) knee replacement, robotic surgery, outpatient total joint replacement.
Dr. Matthew Murray
Dr. Murray is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and subspecialty certified in sports medicine. After playing football for the University of Texas Longhorns and training under world-renowned Dr. James Andrews, Dr. Murray is a true expert in orthopaedic sports medicine.
Dr. Murray specializes in surgery of athletic injuries of the upper and lower extremity. He performs hundreds of routine arthroscopic procedures annually, including meniscus surgery, ACL reconstructions, labral repairs, rotator cuff repairs, and hip labral repairs. After spending four years as an assistant clinical professor at UT Health Science Center, Dr. Murray is also very experienced taking care of complex athletic knee and shoulder injuries, and he is referred patients from all over Texas for his expertise in these problems.
Surgical specialities include: arthoscopic procedures of the shoulder, arthoscopic procedures of the knee (ACL reconstruction, PCL reconstruction and repair, LCL reconstruction and repair, complex and multiple ligament repair and reconstruction of the knee) and hip arthroscopy.
Dr. Rudy Navarro
Dr. Navarro is dual board-certified in Primary Care Sports Medicine and Family Medicine. He treats acute injuries and chronic sports medicine and Orthopedic conditions, including sports-related concussions, muscle injuries, tendon and ligaments strains, fractures, overuse injuries, chronic disease counseling, and exercise medicine. In addition, Dr. Navarro uses point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound to assist in the care of his patients. Dr. Navarro is proficient in the use of Orthobiologics and injection therapy for joint pain, chronic tendon, or ligament lesions. He has experience caring for athletes at all levels, from professionals to weekend warriors.
Dr. Navarro studied Clinical Laboratory Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. He subsequently graduated from the UT Health San Antonio School of Medicine and then completed Family Medicine residency training in Austin, Texas. He has published and presented nationally on topics including Sports-Related Concussion, Sudden Cardiac Death, head injuries in athletes, the Athletic Pre-Participation Examination, Performance-Enhancing Substances, and Female Athletic Injuries.
Dr. Jesse DeLee
Dr. DeLee is an expert in sports medicine, hip and knee replacement, and reconstructive surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and subspecialty-certified in sports medicine by the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine. He has performed countless total hip and knee replacements and arthroscopic knee procedures, including meniscectomy, meniscal repair, ligament repairs, reconstructions, and articular cartilage procedures over a thirty-five year period. Dr. DeLee is currently a Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at UT Health San Antonio and he has been in this position for thirty years
Dr. DeLee started the first Saturday-morning Sports Medicine Clinic in San Antonio and South Texas at the Nix Hospital in 1983, and to this day he provides medical coverage for high school football games in San Antonio, which he has continued to do since 1974. He was also selected a “healthcare hero” by the San Antonio Business Journal in 2003.
Dr. Travis Burns
Dr. Burns is board certified in orthopedic surgery and subspecialty certified in sports medicine. Dr. Burns specializes in shoulder replacement surgery and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip, and knee. He has performed thousands of orthopedic operations including shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, partial shoulder replacement, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability operations, hip arthroscopy, labral repair, treatment of femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, and cartilage repair (OATS and MACI).
Dr. Burns completed subspecialty fellowship training in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the John A. Feagin, Jr. Sports Medicine Fellowship. In 2014, he participated in the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) traveling fellowship to South America. He served as the Chief of Sports Medicine at SAMMC for 7 years and has published over 35 peer-reviewed publications and co-authored 5 book chapters.
Dr. John Hinchey
Dr. John W. Hinchey is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) association . He treats all orthopaedic injuries, and subspecializes in the treatment of shoulder and elbow issues.
Dr. Hinchey attended The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) for both medical school and residency training. He then continued his training with a fellowship in Shoulder and Elbow reconstruction, where he worked with world renowned surgeons at both UTHSCSA and the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He has also provided top quality care for our Nation’s veterans as a full time orthopaedic surgeon at the Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, TX for the past 5 years. Dr. Hinchey also serves as the current President of the San Antonio Orthopaedic Society, and on the Board of Directors for Bexar County Medical Society.
