As of Jan. 1, 2020, Illinois residents can legally purchase ma*****na for recreational use. If you’re keeping track, that’s now 33 of 50 states with some form of decriminalized ma*****na.

SAN ANTONIO - Mega V**e is suing the City of San Antonio for at least $100,000 and asking for a temporary restraining order.

According to court documents filed by the company, it is claiming the city has directly impacted its business, especially after revoking its Certificate of Occupancy 'on a whim' during the Stay Home, Work Safe order.

As the economic damage from the coronavirus pandemic piles up, U.S. cities and states are set to face significant lost revenue given the loss of business activity.

But, as DataTrek Research’s Jessica Rabe writes in a note, “there’s a simple and effective solution for states and cities to help cover their huge budget shortfalls after the COVID-19 pandemic subsides: legalize recreational sales of ma*****na.”

New York, the epicenter of COVID-19 cases in the U.S., might see a revenue drop of $4 billion to $7 billion compared to what it was expecting, according to the state comptroller. With a budget of $87.9 billion, that’s significant.

States like New York will see significant revenue shortfalls due to coronavirus. Legalizing cannabis could make up for a quarter of the losses, which could help push legislation forward.

As cases of coronavirus continued to pop up in North Texas, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson declared a state of emergency after Dallas County officials late Thursday night banned large public gatherings for at least the next week.

Starting at 11 a.m. on Friday and continuing until March 20, public gatherings — whether inside or outdoors — of more than 500 people are prohibited anywhere in the county, County Judge Clay Jenkins said Thursday night. SAN ANTONIO - The city has announced its first confirmed case of the coronavirus not on Lackland Air Force Base.

Metro Health Director Dawn Emerick said the person is in self-quarantine, along with their family and is in stable condition. The person began showing symptoms in early March and was tested recently before getting results late Thursday night.

Officials urged for residents to practice social distancing, not to touch your face and wash your hands thoroughly. Emerick asked for anyone feeling as if they are displaying symptoms to call the Emergency Room or your health provider before putting others at risk at a hospital.

On Wednesday night, the National Basketball Association (NBA) made the unprecedented announcement that it would be suspending all games indefinitely after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19, caused by the coronavirus. While NBA talent and ownership will lose some money, most of their finances are secure thanks to their guaranteed contracts—but this is not true for the thousands of people who work at the arenas. Cleveland 19 reports that Cleveland Cavaliers all-star Kevin Love is trying to set a good example by showing his support for the Cavaliers’ arena staff and committing $100,000 to help them out during this work stoppage.

On his Instagram account, Love posted an image of him with arena workers, and wrote that “Everyone reacts differently to stressful situations. And the fear and anxiety resulting from the recent outbreak of COVID-19 can be extremely overwhelming.” He explained that he felt the NBA has shown a progressive attitude in recent years toward the community they entertain, and hoped others would join him in lending their support.
