"Trauma is not what happened to you, it's what happened inside of you." -Gabor Mate
Each of us views the world, our interactions, and our relationships in a unique way. Our past experiences, temperament, and natural responses shape how we see things, influencing our present experiences.
Trauma is also deeply personal. No two people will experience a traumatic event the same way. Even if two people go through the same situation, their reactions might be very different.
What is not traumatic for one person might be for another.
Your experience is incomparable to anyone else's.
Your experience is valid.
Trauma is a reality to our nervous system.
Our bodies store traumatic events, influenced by our history and past traumas. How we respond to emotional or distressing situations in the present and future is shaped by what we've been through before.
What is your body trying to tell you?
Our deepest hope is for all trauma survivors to be seen, believed, and validated. But we don’t need external validation to know our own truths. We shouldn't wait for someone else to label our experiences as trauma before recognizing our bodies' messages.
Only you get to do that.
To those unsure about labeling their experiences as trauma, and to those learning to listen to their bodies' stories, we see you. Your journey is yours, and your truth matters.
You are not alone.
𝘼𝙍𝙏 recognizes your thoughts, perceptions and experiences as valid. It works by acknowledging the feelings and sensations in the body, and moves them into more positive ones.
Yes, you'll still remember what happened. No one can ever take that from you. But you'll change how the thoughts, sensations and feelings are stored in the brain. So you can move forward with more hope and more empowerment.
