IMPORTANT REMINDER. METROCARE HAS TANF PANDEMIC EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE FUNDING!!
FUNDS MUST BE ALLOCATED BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER! TANF CAN PAY FOR ASSISTANCE THROUGH OCTOBER, BUT NOT AFTER, SO MUST SPEND NOW!!!
WHAT IS IT ?
Funding to address housing and ancillary expense needs including:
- Rent help families obtain or maintain housing (assistance period is NOT to exceed four months)
- Utility Assistance
- Security Deposit Assistance
- Housing Modifications to make home accessible and safe
- Short Term Emergency Housing Assistance when a family member tests positive for COVID-19
- Ancillary Expenses short-term basic needs such as purchasing diapers, clothing, emergency food, burial assistance and other necessary personal care items to promote short-term family stability
Funding can NOT be used for:
- Tax Credits
- Childcare
- Transportation (but say a family is not paying to fix their car bc they have to pay rent could pay rent so they could use funds for car!)
- Short-term education
- Training Services
Funding Limits:
No more than $7,000 per family of 2-3 individuals
No more than $10,000 per family of 4 or more individuals
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- Families with dependent children (under 18 years of age)
- Residents of Texas
- US Citizens, legal aliens or qualified aliens who are unemployed, underemployed or determined by Metrocare as in need
- Either the adult or child in the home has:
- A diagnosis of a mental health condition and/or
- An Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability and/or
- A Substance Use Disorder and
- Has been impacted by COVID (everyone has been impacted, so everyone checks this box!)
- The Adult or Child with a dx of MH, IDD, or SUD does NOT have to be a current client of Metrocare but does need to complete the application process and provide verification of diagnosis (external provider/school/etc.). If there is someone that believes they or their child might meet diagnosis criteria for MH and/or SUD, but does not currently have any verifying documentation, we can complete a diagnostic evaluation to confirm the diagnosis, get them financial assistance and initiate ongoing services!--
