So many of our amazing clients and families have asked how you can support our service to those in need. Here's a list of the items most requested by fellow counselors in the field! Press and hold the QR code for our amazon wishlist.

To give you an idea of how these items are used for counseling:

-Portable sound machines can be taken to churches and other buildings to provide confidentiality during counseling services in private rooms.

-Coffee is basically our life blood, and is also offered during support groups and meetings between agencies.

-Make up wipes are stocked in restrooms: Ladies become self conscious when they cry and their make up runs, so we keep these on hand.

If you have any of these items (new and unexpired) on hand locally, message us to coordinate a drop off at Trellis. If you're interested in financially supporting the Texas Hill Country Counselors Association, connect with me on donation information.

The support for those impacted by the floods in the hill country has been overwhelming and seeing the community rally around to offer their time, energy, and resources to this effort is heartfelt. 💛
•
I’m extending my services to those who answered the call. Caring for ourselves as we care for others is vitally important to be able to continue showing up.
•
I will be opening up my schedule to a limited number of clients for extended care.
•
If you feel prompted to support the efforts in supporting mental health with an investment so these brave individuals can receive care without the stress of financial strain, please DM for more details on how to donate.

Spent the first part of this year in some intense training to grow my knowledge in somatics through
•
Although I had a wonderful foundation through yoga training many years ago, I was eager to expand on that for my work as a therapist.
•
Somatic therapy is a type of therapy that helps people heal from trauma or stress by focusing on the connection between the mind and body. It works with body sensations, breathing, movement, and awareness to release stress or emotions that are “stuck” in the body. The idea is that the body holds onto trauma, not just the mind.
•
Somatic EMDR adds body awareness to the EMDR process. While you’re processing memories, the therapist also helps you stay aware of what’s happening in your body—like tension, temperature changes, or breathing shifts.
This approach helps people process trauma more deeply and gently, especially if their trauma is stored in the body or if talk therapy alone hasn’t helped.
•
Excited to incorporate this more deeply into what I’m already offering and to share more experiences outside the therapy room to make space for growth and healing.

W is for Wind Down
•
Honor your healing.
Rest is deserved, not earned.
A simple concept so many of us are trying to learn.
•
One of the most important, if not the most important aspect of trauma healing is allowing the nervous system to wind down and rest.
•
Listen to the cues of your body. Often what it’s communicating is that deep intentional rest is needed.
•
Rest in times of healing and nervous system regulation can be mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and social
•
Clearing your schedule, saying no, not over committing yourself, brain rest, minimizing social media consumption, physical rest & sleep, gentle movement, intuitive eating can all be forms of rest.

Prepping for an EMDR intensive this weekend.
Grateful to be holding space for another in deep healing work.
Grateful for the tools I get to share with another.
Grateful for this sacred work.

U is for Uncertainty
•
Uncertainty will have us doing almost anything to find safety.
•
If we were not taught early on that uncertainty in life doesn’t always mean a lack of safety, we can find ourselves reaching for things that will actually cause more harm than good.
•
During times of uncertainty in my past relationship, where my then partner behaved in a way that was emotionally abusive and abandoning, I found myself accepting behaviors and saying yes to things I would not have normally agreed to all to maintain safety in the home.
•
The anxiety that ensued for years due to the unpredictable behaviors of another left me picking up pieces to messes I didn’t create.
•
The uncertainty that comes with setting boundaries with a mentally and emotionally abusive individual will leave someone disregulated and afraid.
•
Sometimes the thing we’re most afraid of is what we don’t see in front of us. The ‘what if’s’ take over our decision making to mitigate any further damage.
•
Being unsure of what’s ahead doesn’t always have to be a scary thing that leads to emotional paralysis. It can be a means for an opportunity to forge a new path ahead and to practice trust in ourselves and to be wrapped in self-compassion.
•
The next time you’re feeling anxious due to the unknown, take a deep breath in, slowly exhale, and return to the present moment.
•
There’s a time and place to prepare for the future, and as you’re considering the future, remain curious while also remembering to tap into the present moment.
