Trauma isn’t just what happened to you—it’s what happens inside of you. 🧠✨
•
Most of us think of trauma as a single, devastating event. But true healing begins when we understand that trauma is actually an overwhelm of the nervous system. It’s the ā€œstuckā€ energy that stays in the body long after the event has passed.
•
In my latest blog post, I’m breaking down:
āœ… What trauma actually is (beyond the dictionary definition)
āœ… How our survival states (Fight, Flight, Freeze, Fawn) protect us
āœ… Why healing happens in the body, not just the mind
When we stop asking ā€œwhat’s wrong with me?ā€ and start asking ā€œhow is my nervous system trying to protect me?ā€, everything changes.

Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all, and neither is therapy. šŸ•Šļø
•
ā“I’m often asked, ā€œWhich is better: Weekly sessions or an Intensive?ā€ The truth is, it depends entirely on your nervous system, your schedule, and your goals.
•
šŸ—“ļøWeekly therapy offers a beautiful, steady rhythm of support and integration. It’s accessible, it builds long-term safety, and it allows us to navigate life’s ups and downs as they happen.
•
šŸƒšŸ½ā€ā™€ļøIntensives offer a concentrated ā€œdeep diveā€ for those moments when you want to clear a specific hurdle or when your schedule doesn’t allow for weekly visits.
•
šŸ¦‹Both are powerful. Both lead to change. It’s all about which container feels right for you right now.

So many of our amazing clients and families have asked how you can support our service to those in need. Here's a list of the items most requested by fellow counselors in the field! Press and hold the QR code for our amazon wishlist.

To give you an idea of how these items are used for counseling:

-Portable sound machines can be taken to churches and other buildings to provide confidentiality during counseling services in private rooms.

-Coffee is basically our life blood, and is also offered during support groups and meetings between agencies.

-Make up wipes are stocked in restrooms: Ladies become self conscious when they cry and their make up runs, so we keep these on hand.

If you have any of these items (new and unexpired) on hand locally, message us to coordinate a drop off at Trellis. If you're interested in financially supporting the Texas Hill Country Counselors Association, connect with me on donation information.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I invite you into a safe place where you can experience the beginning of a life that is lived healed and whole. I come alongside those who have experienced brokenness from trauma, and together we begin to explorer how to resolve issues of deep wounding for a healed future.
