So, we did a little thing during COVID. Turned my husband's shop/barn into a house. They call them barndominiums.

I really wanted the farmhouse kitchen look. I chose a walk-in working/prep pantry, some call it a butlers pantry. In the pantry I placed a deep utility sink, notice the raised dishwasher?

Also, in the pantry is a utility cart, it can raise and lower by a neat little lever. Thanks to the creativity of my husband it was modified so it could fit inside the pantry and we could still get in and out easily. He essentially cut it in half for me so it wouldn't take up all the available space in there.

I love the raised dishwasher, my back is thankful for that too! The refrigerator and a deep stainless utility sink make peeping and clean up a breeze. I use the utility cart to cut and prep my meals and then move it on out to the kitchen to cook. So handy.

In the kitchen, I placed 2 double farmhouse sinks. Those have been real handy during the canning season this year. I don't know what I enjoy better that or my 48 inch cooktop.

We kind of designed and wished and built as we went along. There were many discussions, lots of changes, but all in all I think we did good. And no we didn't put doors or cabinets. If I decide later I can always have some installed. We just have some shelves and i decided I'd put cute café curtains up. I can change them out easily and change the feel of the kitchen here and there.

I started with a sunflower theme and getting closer to changing them out for something that speaks fall soon. When I decide I'll post be pictures.

Anyhow, I'm happy with how my farmhouse kitchen turned out. I'm moving things here and there add I cook and find ways to make it more functional.

So what do you do with a hundred pounds of pears that you just picked off your tree? Well I started out with pear pie filling. Canned 10 pints of that and then I found a recipe for honey spiced pears and I canned 12 pints of that. Now I'm onto just canning some pear halves in syrup. I don't know how many I'm going to get out of that but 3 - 5 gallon buckets was almost a hundred pounds of pears from one tree.

Had a very successful day making grape jelly from about 50 pounds of wild Texas Mustang grapes I picked yesterday. A friend helped me and it passed the time, made it fun and we muffled through it together which made it much more fun.
