🏀💪 Returning to Sport After an Elbow Fracture – It Takes More Than Time
An elbow fracture doesn’t just heal and magically return you to sport. Bone healing is just the first step. Getting back to throwing, lifting, tumbling, serving, or competing requires consistent, intentional work.
In physical therapy, we focus on:
✅ Restoring full range of motion
✅ Rebuilding strength (not just the elbow — but shoulder, wrist, and core too)
✅ Improving stability and joint control
✅ Gradual sport-specific progression
✅ Confidence in the arm again
The biggest difference between athletes who successfully return to sport and those who struggle? Consistency.
Small, focused sessions done regularly outperform occasional “all-in” workouts. Tissue capacity builds over time — and your elbow needs progressive loading to tolerate the demands of your sport safely.
Skipping steps or rushing back too soon can lead to setbacks, compensation patterns, and even re-injury.
Healing is biological.
Performance is built. 💥
If you or your athlete is recovering from an elbow fracture, stay patient, stay consistent, and trust the process.
