🦴 Winter weather increases the risk of falls, and falls are a leading cause of fractures in older adults.

❄️ Snow, ice, and low light can make even short walks hazardous. Wear shoes with good traction, use railings, take slower steps, and keep your home well lit and clutter free. Review medications and vision changes with your healthcare provider, and consider added protection if you're at higher risk.

🌟 Small steps now can help protect your independence all season long.

Today is World Osteoporosis Day. It is a day that we raise awareness about this condition that increases cost, morbidity and mortality and reduces quality of life. At Texas Bone Health and Wellness, we are committed to help you keep your independence by improving bone health. Osteoporosis is more common than you might think. Half of all women fracture in their lifetime and a quarter of men because of osteoporosis.

Building stronger bones begins with what you eat and how you move. A balanced diet rich in calcium, vitamin D, fruits, vegetables, and lean protein gives your bones the nutrients they need. Weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening activities, like walking, dancing, or resistance training, help keep bones strong and prevent fractures.
