🔹March is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month.

🔹Multiple Sclerosis, or MS, is a disease where the immune system attacks the brain and spinal cord, disrupting communications between the brain and body. While the cause of MS is not yet known and there is no cure, medication, rehabilitation and other treatment strategies can effectively manage its symptoms so patients can live full lives.

Today we celebrate registered dietitian nutritionists! For many of our patients, managing their dietary needs is a process that requires expert and compassionate care. Whether a patient is working to be able to eat and drink by mouth again, has specific dietary restrictions, or requires a special diet to manage a health condition, RDNs are with them every step of the way as part of their care team on their recovery journey.

Patient safety awareness and training are a vital stop on the continuum of care. Ensuring a patient is properly equipped with tools, skills, and adaptive equipment to safely navigate their home and complete their activities of daily living confidently and effectively not only helps prevent hospital re-admissions but also preserves independence, dignity, and emotional well-being!

That’s why we are proud to recognize National Patient Safety Awareness Week March 8-14! Patient safety isn’t just a box to check for us at PAM Health. It is built into our company culture and values, and our teams are always striving to raise the bar for patient safety standards. Thank you to our staff for your commitment to patient safety this week and every other day of the year!

💙 Improving patients’ ability to function at home and in their communities;
💙 Help patients adapt to the changes caused by brain injury;
💙 Provide social and emotional support;
💙 And prevent further medical complications of brain injury to support long-term recovery.

Sending out a belated happy International Women’s Day as we celebrate the unique contributions and experiences of the women in our lives!

At PAM Health, we are reflecting in particular on some of the women who helped shape the field of healthcare and physical rehabilitation. Here are a few you may not have heard of before:
• Mary McMillan, the “founding mother” of modern physical therapy in the U.S.
• Elizabeth Blackwell, the first woman to earn an MD in the U.S.
• Eleanor Clarke Slagle, an early pioneer of occupational therapy
