High school students in Virginia are repairing old cars.

Then they’re donating them, free, to single mothers who need reliable transportation.

This is bigger than a feel good story.
It is a real solution to a real bottleneck.

Because about 8% of U.S. households have zero vehicles available, based on American Community Survey estimates.

And a car is expensive to keep on the road. AAA estimates the average cost to own and operate a new vehicle at $11,577 per year, around $965 per month.

So a working car can be the difference between:

• Keeping a job or losing hours
• Making it to childcare on time
• Getting to appointments without rescheduling again
• Building stability instead of constantly scrambling

Transportation access directly affects employment, education, health care, and childcare.

These students are learning real skills. And handing a family something even more valuable.

Full Moon in Leo - This moon is about release, as well as returning to authenticity. Asserting one’s self, especially that inner kid and your care and love for them, and for your heart. Especially in the more “frivolous” areas of creativity and play. Recognize and respect yourself, especially in areas you may have ignored or played down before.

Imbolc & the snow or ice moon - This holiday and the closest moon emphasize hermit-like energy: reflection, self-care, and taking a pause at times before speaking up. Really think about how you’re going to do the above (though don’t be like me and hesitate inside your head for too long).

For personal reasons, I have always recognized Imbolc as occurring on February 2. Still, the energy is enmeshed and open at this transition into a new week and month. Take some time when it’s best for you to do some candle magic, really enjoy a forgotten hobby, or express yourself boldly but with measured forethought.
